Josh Ritter returns this spring with the "Small Town USA" tour in support of his highly praised 2007 release, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter (Sony BMG Music Entertainment/Victor). Named by Entertainment Weekly as one of "The 10 Most Exciting Artists Now," Ritter continues to receive critical acclaim for this, his fourth full-length album. DJ SHADOW / CUT CHEMIST - The Hard Sell (Encore)
This is Chapter 3 in the Freeze/ Product Placement saga...all live. It all started with a phone call (or, in this case, a text message) "would you want to do Freeze at the Hollywood Bowl?" Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow jumped at the chance to be the first-ever headlining turntablists at the legendary 16,500 capacity venue, the site of infamous concerts by everyone from John Williams to the Beatles to the Doors. In the process of preparing for the June 2007 show, Shadow and Cut recorded their rehearsals, allowing for this latest and greatest episode in all-45 mayhem: The Hard Sell. The first version of the CD, which featured a die-cut, DVD style cover, is now completely sold out. This NEW version of the CD, recorded several months later, includes much of the material the duo had to scrap due to time constraints at the Bowl...and also a few routines deemed too complicated to attempt at the time! Now you can experience The Hard Sell the way it was originally intended, with the expanded Hard Sell (Encore) CD!

As with Freeze and Product Placement, the emphasis is on the eclectic; funk and hip-hop are present as is some rock. But Hard Sell is leaps and bounds beyond the expected, on a musical basis, as well as technical. Now utilizing 8 turntables and 2 loop pedals, new possibilities in live mixing are explored, as doo-wop mixes with punk, new wave with grime, and everything in between, all with taste and humor. Several classic hip-hop tracks are even "sampled" (via loop pedal) and reconstructed in real time, from their original elements.

Now you can finally hear what all of the buzz has been about. Forget mash-ups, forget computers, and never mind the MP3s, this is real turntablism at its genre-bending, skills-dominated best.

PORCUPINE TREE - We Lost The Skyline (Live) CD
On the 4th October 2007 PORCUPINE TREE arrived for an in-store performance and signing session at Park Avenue CDs in Orlando, Florida, with 200 fans also in attendance. Although it was originally planned that the full band would play, lack of space dictated that only the 2 guitarists / singers Steven Wilson and John Wesley deliver an impromptu performance, including many songs rarely (if ever) played by the band, making for a very special and intimate show. Fortunately this one-off performance was captured by Full Sail (with their remote recording facility) and the complete 8 song, 33 minute show is now being released in a digipak sleeve created by photographer Lasse Hoile and designer Carl Glover. KATIE HERZIG - Weightless CD
From even the first note of a KATIE HERZIG tune, you know you've stumbled into something special. Maybe it's the way she juxtaposes lyrical playfulness and whimsy with incredibly thoughtful depth and emotion. Maybe it's her stunning, delicately powerful voice. Doesn't really matter. The captivating effect is in full force. From her college days in the Boulder-based band Newcomers Home to her 2005 solo debut Watch Them Fall, Katie has always worked on tender acoustic renderings that reveal the emotional inner-workings of a seeker of truth and love. Not wasting any momentum or time, Katie moved to Nashville in 2006 and offered up WEIGHTLESS. From the delightful romps that kick it off, to the mesmerizing heart aches that slip in toward the end, it's a powerful journey that must be taken. In support of Weightless, Katie has opened shows for The Fray and many others, while also making time for the PASTE Songwriters tour. To take matters even further, a cover of her song 'Heaven's My Home' (performed by The Duhks) was nominated for a 2007 Grammy for Best Country Performance! She has also had TV placements on various shows including 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Smallville' and 'ER'.

MISSY HIGGINS - Where I Stood EP CD
Austrailian superstar MISSY HIGGINS is set to release her 2nd album, ON A CLEAR NIGHT, on Feb 26. Already 4x platinum in Australia, she built a strong base through touring on the strength of her 2005 debut. This EP features the single, a B-side, a Neil Finn cover, and a live track ("The Wrong Girl"). The 23 year old singer/songwriter from Melbourne has enjoyed phenomenal success in her homeland in spite - or perhaps because - of shunning the usual synthetic packaging and tabloid tackiness. Instead she's adopted a more timeless approach, relying on her undeniable songs and unforgettable live performances to build a genuine and gimmick free connection with her audience. Missy's new album, ON A CLEAR NIGHT, retains the hallmarks of her earlier work - irresistible melodies and "arrow through the heart" lyrics delivered by a voice that clearly means it. However, this time around the tracks benefit from the empathetic production of Mitchell Froom who helmed the first three Crowded House albums, as well as works by other quality artists such as Ron Sexsmith, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney and the Finn Brothers.

GRAND OLE PARTY - Humanimals CD
Since 2005, Kristin Gundred (vocals, drums), John Paul Labno (guitar) and Mike Krechnyak (bass) have been writing music, touring clubs and putting on live shows that make friends tell friends to get off the couch and into the club. San Diego is where they landed, and where they have gone on to cultivate a rabid following of fans devoted to their raucous live show. Initial reaction from music fans and key press has been incredibly positive and exciting. Grand Ole Party just completed a sold out US tour with Rilo Kiley. They toured with Vampire Weekend in December 2007, and a new tour will be announced soon!

COCONUT RECORDS – Nighttiming CD
COCONUT RECORDS is the name of Jason Schwartzman's band based in Los Angeles, California. This album is also his debut album for his record label, Young Baby Records. NIGHTTIMING was available as a digital download on March 20th, 2007 on iTunes, and a number of other online digital music services. The album was produced by Mike Einziger of Incubus in Casa Chica in Malibu in August 2006. Schwartzman is the sole songwriter for all the songs, in addition to playing all of the instruments on the record. Jason has already made a video for the song "West Coast" which can be seen on you tube or the website. Guest appearances by Zooey Deschanel, Robert Schwartman, and Kirsten Dunst!

MICHAEL FRANTI – 911 Power To The Peaceful Festival DVD

The Festival began humbly in 1998 as an international day of art and culture in support of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal. The name and date ”911” were chosen to call attention to the emergency status of Mumia's impending execution. PTTP has since expanded, showing support for all prisoners on death row, and speaking out against the exponential growth of the prison industrial complex.

When the attacks of September 11th, 2001 occurred, the festival took on a new significance, serving both as a day of remembrance for the lives lost in the tragedy as well as a day in which Northern Californians called for an end to all bombing around the globe. The 2002 and 2003 events offered a space for healing and compassion for all the people killed or displaced by terrorism and the war on terrorism. In 2004 the festival was themed "Stand up and be Counted," encouraging people to get out and vote. 2005's festival, themed "Bring 'Em Home," emphasized that the best way to support our troops is to bring them home now, and drew upwards of 50,000 attendees participating in a day of music, art and social justice.

The Brothers Followill push their distinctive brand of Southern garage rock into darker, more proggish territory. TACKS, THE BOY DISASTER – Oh, Beatrice CD
With a sound too expansive to be labeled purely as indie rock, TACKS, THE BOY DISASTER offers thoughtful and imaginative lyricism, solid musical hooks and rich instrumentation reminiscent of late-60’s/early-70’s pop. After only eight months together, Evan Jacobs (vocals/keys), a founding member of Midlake who also moonlights with the Polyphonic Spree, and the rest of the band - Jason Friedrich (drums), Nathan Stein (guitar), and Alán Uribe (bass/vocals) – recorded Oh, Beatrice in Jacobs’ house with equipment they borrowed from friends. The Austin Chronicle called Oh, Beatrice, “a mixture of ecstasy and mania,” and the band quickly gained an ardent regional following as word-of-mouth spread about their extraordinary live shows with Texas favorites Sound TEAM, Peter and the Wolf, and Voxtrot. BUCKETHEAD – Young Buckethead Vol. 1 & 2 DVDs
In 1990 and ’91, the cult guitarist BUCKETHEAD launched his career with a series of stunning San Francisco concerts with his first band, the Deli Creeps. The first show was attended by about a dozen people, but word was soon out: These horror-flick rejects from LA had to be seen to be believed. YOUNG BUCKET HEAD, VOL 1 & 2 document the birth of the Buckethead legend. The DVDs include three complete Deli Creeps concerts, zany backstage footage and a complete rehearsal, an interview in the park, where the masked one speaks for the first time, and a must-see 14-minute solo played in his backyard at a family reunion!

Filmed as a one-time event at Ben's studio in Nashville, TN on Oct 24 2006, to kick off the release of Supersunnyspeedgraphic the LP, this event was MySpace.com's first-ever live webcast.

JOSH ROUSE – She’s Spanish, I’m American CD EP
On the heels of his most recent album, Subtitulo, JOSH ROUSE forms a new side project featuring his girlfriend (artist Paz Suay) under the name, SHE’S SPANISH, I’M AMERICAN. The five-song EP features playful duets between Josh and Paz as they share stories from their adventures together. The songs give listeners an upbeat, refreshing sound, full of light-hearted lyrics laced with lots of romance. The initial recordings were done in their apartment in Valencia this summer, upon returning from several months of touring; they sent several tracks back to their friend in Nashville, Daniel Tashian (who has written and played in Josh's band in the past) to add live drums, keyboards and guitars.

FRANK BLACK – Christmass CD
The limited edition CHRISTMASS, FRANK BLACK’s latest release, is being offered exclusively through independent stores. This CD/DVD release is comprised of live acoustic recordings from Summer 2006, along with five studio tracks recorded partly in hotel rooms and partly at Planet of Sound Studios in Hartford. There is also a DVD with selections from one of the live acoustic shows, so in total, there are seven new songs. The project was produced by long-time Pixies’ camp member Myles Mangino. THE FEATURES – Contrast CD EP
The FEATURES’ debut full-length on Universal Records, Exhibit A, was released to critical claim in the States and abroad. DAVID BAZAN – Fewer Moving Parts
Known mostly for his tenure performing as Pedro the Lion, songwriter DAVID BAZAN recently retired the band moniker to continue making music under his own name. On his debut self-released EP "FEWER MOVING PARTS,” his signature songwriting, voice, and melodies are framed in layered harmonies, multi-tracked guitars, analog keyboards, and intricate production he was never able to fully realize with Pedro The Lion. The 10-song EP includes two different versions of five new Bazan songs -- one version is stripped down acoustic and another version has full-instrumentation.

Needless to say, we’re psyched to have this since this CD is only available at select indie stores across the nation and it ROCKS! Jason Lytle wrote all the songs and produced this EP in his home studio in Ceres, CA – it’s a bit more in line with Sophtware Slump and Western Freeway, but is has a couple of straight-up pop-driven songs. Varied sounds abound and the lyrics are great – lots of songs about Jason’s dissatisfaction with life in Modesto and his longing to leave. And cuss words too!

ELBOW – Leaders Of The Free World
It’s no secret to ELBOW fans out there that Leaders Of The Free World has been available as a UK import for a couple of weeks now. Their label will give the CD a proper release and push in the States in 2006, but we know you don’t wanna wait that long or pay a high price. We’re big fans of the band as well and rather than have you overpay for an import version of the CD, we went right to the band’s US label and convinced them to give the record a limited release in the States, primarily at indie record stores where the band has had the most support. So there you have it – this CD will only be available at a limited number of American retail outlets until 2006, so enjoy!

I NINE – Live EP
We got the jump on this fine band by having them play in the store for our Cameron Crowe in-store. For those of you who couldn’t make it down, be assured that you will hear plenty more from this South Caroline foursome who have started to blossom and are winning over early believers. Carmen Keigans’ vocal ability and stage presence has been compared to everyone from Janis Joplin to Patti Smith to Ann Wilson, but even with all the comparisons, once you see the band perform it’s clear they are one-of-a-king. This EP is a collection of some of their best live performances. Among their earliest fans is film director Cameron Crowe, who hand-picked I Nine to perform the lead single “Same In Any Language” for the ELIZABETHTOWN soundtrack. Look for I Nine on tour this fall and for a full-length debut in 2006.

MOISTBOYZ – I & II (ONE CD)

Producer Cameron Crowe (you know, the guy behind Fast Times, Say Anything, Jerry Maguire, Singles, and Vanilla Sky) is a *huge* supporter of new music, and specifically the kind of musicians that we love to sell. Cameron approached us to help him set up his new movie ELIZABETHTOWN and its soundtrack (available September 13), so, we bring you the SONGS FROM THE BROWN HOTEL EP. The movie Elizabethtown is based in the Kentucky town of the same name, just outside of Louisville. It stars Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. Our favorite sons, earX- tacy gets their famous sticker included in a shot in the movie, and My Morning Jacket plays a role in the movie as the wedding band. As you will notice by the track listing, Cameron has chosen to A&R this EP in a very Kentucky-centric way and he did pick every song. LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 5000 UNITS. Son Volt - Afterglow 61 CDEP
Son Volt is set to release their first new album in seven years on July 12. Okemah And The Melody Of Riot (DualDisc only) will feature 12 new recordings and a 30-minute "making of" documentary including live and interview footage.
