We’re excited to host Bre Kennedy for a special vinyl release celebration on Wednesday, March 27th at 4:00 PM! Bre’s new album Scream Over Everything was released digitally in the fall and is now making its way to vinyl. Written over the course of one year, as Bre joined Joy Oladokun and Paper Kites on their headlining tours, Scream Over Everything features co-writes from Morgan Nagler, Mikey Reaves, and Emily Hackett, and is produced by Davis Naish (Joshua Bassett, Katelyn Tarver, Maddie Zahm) and mixed by Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan, Kacey Musgraves, Madi Diaz). Across nine enigmatic pop songs, Bre makes the personal universal as she recounts stories of reconnecting with estranged family members, seeking therapy, and ending a romantic relationship. “Going into my 30s, I started going through the garden in my mind, taking out the things that don't serve me anymore, and planting new seeds,” Bre says. “I feel like it's been the season that I've been in.”
“A lot of what I've written about in the past is nostalgia,” Bre says. “I'm a very nostalgic person. But this album is about presence — being present in the feeling and letting it come up. It’s about choosing and trusting myself. “Songs are funny that way,” Bre continues thoughtfully. “Even when I didn't feel like I had words for how I felt in certain moments, I wrote these songs and they let my voice scream over everything else. Now that these songs have come into the world, I hope they can find you on days when you need a song to scream to.”
We’re so excited to be able to host Bre and hope you’ll be able to join us. Copies of Scream Over Everything can be picked up in the store now or in advance of her event on March 27th. IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION!
Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. Another parking option is the pay lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's off Gallatin Road, two blocks down the street. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police calls, and towing. An officer who lives in the neighborhood across the street and was blocked by event attendees 3 times last year. We don’t want to anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. If you block driveways or park illegally you will be towed.
Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
