He’ll be in town to play the ANTI- Records 25th Anniversary AmericanaFest 2024 Showcase at The Basement East, later that night, which is just STACKED with heavy hitters. (See below for notes on how you can score tickets to the late show.) Lucky for us all of us, Hutson has decided to celebrate his new album early at Grimey’s! Due out Friday, September 27th, via ANTI- Records, Paradise Pop. 10 is available for preorder now in the record shop and on our site here. It will also be available for purchase in the shop starting on September 19th. All who preorder the album for instore pickup will also receive a wristband for Hutson’s album signing at Grimey’s, that also guarantees entrance to our event. Wristbands are limited and are required to participate in the album signing for all 13+.
Paradise Pop. 10 feels a lot like finding an unpublished collection of short stories, scrawled hastily on the sides of airsickness bags and cocktail napkins, each one detailing the life of the unwitting passenger fortunate enough to be seated next to Christian Lee Hutson on their flight to Fort Worth. Anyone who has had the good fortune of falling in love with his earlier albums - 2020’s Beginners and 2022’s Quitters - knows that Hutson is a keen observer of both himself and the world. Those albums earned the Californian singer-songwriter international attention, with Pitchfork noting that, “Few lyricists can paint such clear portraits in such a small space; even fewer can set them so naturally to such long-breathed melodies”, the UK’s Guardian commending his work as “small films in song, delicate and devastating, lingering long” and No Depression heralding the arrival of “an artist fully formed and wise beyond his years”.
We had the honor of hosting Hutson around the release of Quitters and cannot wait to have him back at Grimey’s! Secure your spot in the shop by placing a preorder for Paradise Pop. 10 in advance—in the record shop or on our webstore here—to make sure your signing wristband is locked in. Based on the number of folks who turned out to see him here in 2021, we anticipate we’ll be seeing a lot of you again next week!

There are two ways you can score tickets to see Christian Lee Hutson perform at The Basement East along with Leyla McCalla, Madi Diaz, Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, and Neko Case for the ANTI- Records 25th Anniversary AmericanaFest 2024 showcase—one involves luck, the other involves cash.
Ticket Giveaway: Starting Friday, 9/13, you can drop by the shop and register to win one pair of tickets to the show. The winner will be notified on Wednesday, 9/18, via a phone call from Grimey’s, and will need to pick up their tickets in person on Thursday, 9/19. There is just one pair of tickets to be given away, FYI.
Ticket Sale: Starting on the morning of the show, Thursday, 9/19, at 11AM (when the record store opens), Grimey’s will be offering a limited number of tickets for sale in person. Tickets will cost $40 each with a limit of 2 tickets per person (available to those 21+, just like the show.) Ticket sales will be cash only and will be available on a first come, first served basis, with no holds or phone sales available. We anticipate there may be a line to buy tickets at 11AM, just like the good ol’ days of in-person ticket sales, so be prepared folks.
