As a founding member of The E Street Band, Garry Tallent has spent a considerable portion of his life touring the world and playing for legions of fans. But in between working with the Boss, Tallent makes music inspired by the music he grew up listening to. "I learned how to play music by ear, and just haven't learned how to read music since," says Tallent. "I would listen to the popular music of the day back then. My favorite was Buddy Holly. And I would mimic what he played on my cheap guitar." Step forward a few years and Garry becomes a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. It wasn't until 2016 that Tallent decided to step out of his comfort zone and finally become his own boss with the release of his first solo album, Break Time, at age 65. Since that release in 2016, Garry has been working on his second solo album, More Like Me. The new album is Garry's homage to the sound of the mid-60s - the sounds he grew up and learned by ear on his cheap guitar. He hopes you like it. And I know you will. Don't miss this chance to see a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer take the Grimey's stage and play his new songs for us all. More Like Me is officially out August 2nd, but we'll have copies on hand for this preview event - a live performance by Garry Tallent and his crack band a week before the album release. You'll be able to get the new record early and get it signed by Garry!
