We're tight with one of the best online vinyl groups out there - the Heady Wax Fiends! They're in Nashville on the weekend of May 3rd for their first in-person meet-up and we're thrilled to host an afternoon hang at Grimey's during BEER:30!
Funk and soul band Mojoflo, who have a new album out, will play a live set and we'll have free beers for all 21+ fiends as a part of our weekly BEER:30 hang. MojoFlo is a high-octane modern funk band led by the powerhouse vocalist Amber Knicole. Known for their explosive live shows and genre-blending sound, MojoFlo blends a modern funk edge with old-school soul revue energy. The band is gearing up to release their upcoming album What It Is, a celebration of funk through the ages, featuring a collaboration with Bootsy Collins that’s been holding steady at #1 on Spotify’s All Funked Up playlist. Fresh off performances in Havana, Cuba, MojoFlo is riding serious momentum with horns, grooves, and showmanship to spare, they’re a can’t-miss live experience. We hope you'll join us for a funky and fun afternoon in the record shop.
A note on BEER:30 events—The Heady Wax Fiends meetup & Mojoflo performance coincides with our weekly BEER:30 hang, so we’ll be offering free Tennessee Brew Works beers to those 21+ (with valid IDs). Beer is complimentary but we are collecting cash tips to be donated to support the good works of the folks at DRKMTTR, Nashville's enduring all-ages space, that thrives as a hub for connectivity and creative collaboration. Beyond being a music venue, DRKMTTR stands as a nexus of resilience, cultivating a dynamic community where the DIY ethos transforms into collective action. Through cross-pollination initiatives, they link artists, organize communities & the under-21 crowd, and as a 501-C3 non-profit seek the backing necessary to perpetuate their pivotal role and create a lasting influence.
