We’re excited to share that on Tuessday, August 18th at 4PM we will host Judah & the Lion at Grimey’s for a special in-store event! We’ll be celebrating JATL’s new album, I Am a Prism (Dualtone Records), with a special instore performance & album signing. All who preorder their new album through Grimey’s will receive a wristband for the band’s post-performance signing. You can place your preorder for I Am a Prism on limited edition translucent blue vinyl LP or CD in person at Grimey’s and on our website here. Wristbands are required to participate in our signing for all 13+. Wristbands also guarantee your entrance to this event. (Kids 12 & under don’t need a wristband if attending with a wristband-holding adult.)
In 2011 Judah Akers and Brian MacdDonald became bandmates while attending college in Nashville at Belmont University. Their group, Judah & the Lion, went on to release the 2016 breakout album, Folk Hop n Roll, which launched them on their musical journey. Since then they’ve released a total of (soon-to-be) six albums, they’ve performed on Kimmel Live! and Good Morning America, and they’ve toured across the world and back home again (their next proper show in Nashville is at The Pinnacle on November 13th.)
Judah & The Lion’s newest album, I Am AaPrism, came after a period of soul searching, and in the midst of a welcome joyous new life milestone: Brian becoming a father again. The last three albums had documented some personally heavy topics - mental health and depression (2019’s Pep Talks), heartbreak and divorce (2022’s Revival), and charting the stages of grief (2024’s The Process). On the other side of this trilogy of hard times and heartbreak, Judah & The Lion was at a creative crossroads. They took some time off, parted ways with their management, and asked themselves some tough but necessary questions. Out of this time came I Am a Prism —a celebration of the full spectrum of life, dark and light.
