Lauren Morrow In-Store Performance, Signing & Record Release Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Make plans to be at the record store on Saturday, April 8th at 5:00 PM when we’ll be hanging with Lauren Morrow to celebrate the release of her new album, People Talk! Lauren will perform songs from her new album and sign copies of the vinyl and CD for attendees.** You can preorder People Talk on Opaque Purple Colored Vinyl LP and CD in the record shop or on our site here. (**Preorders include wristbands for the post-performance signing.)

Morrow, a Nashville-based but Atlanta-raised singer-songwriter, has spent the better part of the last fifteen years cultivating her sound, pouring in a variety of influences, and honing her live show until she really came into her own. After spending more than a decade as the frontwoman of The Whiskey Gentry, Lauren stepped out with a 2018 self-titled debut EP which received widespread acclaim. She landed on many Best Of year-end lists from Rolling Stone to Garden & Gun, filmed an episode for PBS' "Bluegrass Underground" and toured the US playing festivals like Pickathon and Bristol Rhythm & Roots.

People Talk was recorded in Nashville and mixed by Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White, Phish) and Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Shania Twain). The album finds Morrow exploring her beyond-country influences like 90s Alternative, Britpop, and even 80s New Wave bands with moody, brutally honest lyrical content and rock n roll attitudes; all with Morrow's signature soprano and vulnerable vibrato and a host of atypically-Americana vibes and tones. The end result is a patiently cultivated and refined sound not unfamiliar to her fans, but a pure expression of everything Morrow is made of-- not just what we've seen so far.

We hope you can come out on April 8th to celebrate Lauren’s new album along with us! This is a free and all ages event. Complimentary Tennessee Brew Works beer will be available for those 21+ with valid ID as a part of our weekly BEER:30 hang, when we drink delicious brews and hang out each Saturday afternoon at 5:00 PM at Grimey’s. You can preorder People Talk in the record shop or on our site here (signing wristband included).

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is an inexpensive paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. (This is no fun at all.) If possible, please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend Lauren Morrow’s record release celebration.
