We’re stoked to host Madi Diaz for a special Weird Faith record release celebration featuring an in-store performance, album signing, and pop-up tarot reading on Wednesday, February 14t! Our event kicks off at 3:00 PM with Tarot Readings by The Emerald Eye and, at 4:00 PM sharp, Madi will perform a short set of songs from her new album, to be followed by an album signing. Weird Faith is due out 2/9 and is available to preorder in the record store and on our site now on Opaque Green Vinyl and on CD. Preorders for local, store pickup include a wristband guaranteeing entrance to her 2/14 in-store performance & signing event. (Kids 12 & under do not need a wristband.) We are really looking forward to celebrating Madi’s album with her and hope you’ll be able to join in on the fun.
Diaz has been making records and writing songs professionally since the mid 2000s and wowing us at Grimey’s since she moved to Nashville in the mid-2010’s and we saw her perform at The Basement. However, it wasn’t until she released 2021’s History Of A Feeling that she felt the glare of wider notoriety. Even though it wasn’t her debut album, it certainly was her breakthrough album. She made her daytime and night time television debuts, embarked on her first solo tour since 2012, and supported Waxahatchee and Angel Olsen on tour, and also collaborated with them on record. Harry Styles handpicked Diaz to open for him in arenas and stadiums in North America, and was so taken by her captivating live show, he asked her to be a member of his touring band, to sing alongside him all over Europe and the UK, as well as continuing to open the show in various cities. After months on the road touring internationally, Diaz is back in town, and gearing up to celebrate the release her new album, Weird Faith. Featuring Kacey Musgraves and produced by Sam Cohen and Konrad Snyder, the album feels expansive and exploratory, showcasing her growth as a songwriter and speaking earnestly about the fears that come from falling in love again. We can’t wait to hear her play these songs live and celebrate with her!

Preordered copies of Weird Faith can be picked up in the store starting on release day, 2/9, at 11:00 AM, when we open. Wristbands will be distributed with album pickup and are non-transferable. IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
