We’re very excited to host Nashville-based multi-GRAMMY award winning musician Sarah Jarosz for a special in-store performance and album signing on Friday, January 26th at 5:00 PM, to celebrate the release of her new album, Polaroid Lovers! The album is due out 1/26 via Rounder Records and is available to preorder in the record store and on our site now on cool Blue / Green colored vinyl and on CD. Preorders for local, store pickup include a wristband guaranteeing entrance to her 1/26 in-store performance & signing event. (Kids 12 & under do not need a wristband.)
Polaroid Lovers is an album-long meditation on those strangely ephemeral moments that indelibly shape our lives. “What I love about a Polaroid is that it’s capturing something so fleeting, but at the same time it makes that moment last forever,” says the Texas-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. “It made sense as a title for a record where all the songs are snapshots of different love stories, and there’s a feeling of time being expansive despite that impermanence.” Thanks to the rarefied alchemy that infuses all of Jarosz’s output—her finely wrought lyricism, ravishing vocal work, virtuosic yet unfettered musicality—Polaroid Lovers performs the much-needed magic of leading us toward a heightened sense of presence, all while casting a lovely spell with her timelessly powerful songs.
Back in 2020 we had the pleasure of hosting a special virtual performance with Jarosz around the release of World on the Ground. If you didn’t view it at the time you can still watch it on YouTube. We’re very excited to be able to host Jarosz at Grimey’s again and celebrate her lovely new record, Polaroid Lovers. And thankfully this time we’ll be able to enjoy her performance with all of you in the room! Jarosz’s set starts at 5:00 PM, with an album signing immediately to follow. Preorders can be pickedup in the store starting on 1/26 at 11:00 AM, when we open. Wristbands will be distributed with album pickup and are non-transferable. This is an all ages shindig, so come one, come all!
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
