The Shindellas In-store Performance, Album Signing & Record Release Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

We’re very excited to host Music City’s own The Shindellas for a special in-store performance and album signing to celebrate the release of their new album, Shindo! It’s due out October 20th via Weirdo Workshop Records and is available to preorder in the record store and on our site now on vinyl and CD. Preorders for local, store pickup include a wristband guaranteeing entrance to their 10/20 performance & signing event.

Since hitting the scene back in 2017, The Shindellas, (Kasi Jones, Stacy Johnson, and Tamara Chauniece), have been on a mission to impact music with their unique sound and style. Hand-picked by Multi-Grammy-nominated production and songwriting duo Chuck Harmony & Claude Kelly (Rihanna, Miley, Jazmine Sullivan, Ledisi, Fantasia, and more), The Shindellas were fueled by the opportunity to make music that would not only matter to them but ring true to the listeners. As a result, the ladies tapped into retro sounds of R&B/Soul influences to bring forth a sound they dubbed as ‘New American Soul’ with hints of The Clark Sisters, EnVogue, The Pointer Sisters, and LaBelle. Celebrity fans include names like Beyonce, Missy Elliott, and Anita Baker. They made history as the first R&B band to perform at the 2021 CMT Awards, and performed on the 2021 CMA Country Christmas special. Most recently they blazed the stage at the 8th Annual Bl ack Music Honors for their performance of "Shame" in tribute to Evelyn"Champagne" King. The Shindellas have been featured on NPR, appeared at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture, performed at the TEDxNashville Women, Record Store Day Summer Camp and more. The Shindellas, at their core, are pitch-perfect. Their tone is penetratingly beautiful.

We had the pleasure of catching The Shindellas performance at RSD Summer Camp in New Orleans in August and were gobsmacked by their delightful harmonies and the positive energy that they just radiate. We’re very excited to be able to host them in the record shop and enjoy their performance with all of you!

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
