Thomas Rhett Grimey’s album signing event

8/27 Update: Our event with Thomas Rhett is today so we've removed all remaining copies of About A Woman from our webstore. White Vinyl LPs & CDs are available for purchase at Grimey’s today and include a wristband for Thomas Rhett's album signing which starts at 12PM, noon.

We’re pumped to welcome Thomas Rhett to Grimey’s on Tuesday, August 27th at noon for an album signing to celebrate the release of his new studio album, About a Woman. Rhett will be hanging out with us in the shop and autographing copies of his new record for event attendees. All who preorder About a Woman from Grimey’s, in the record store itself of via our webstore here, will receive a wristband for our 8/27, album signing. Wristbands are required to participate in our signing event for all 13+. (Kids 12 & under do not require a wristband when attending with a wristband-holding adult.)

Georgia born singer, songwriter and musician Thomas Rhett has previously released six studio albums and his upcoming seventh full-length, About A Woman, is another step forward, but also reminiscent of the period behind the star’s breakout songs … ones that defined his high-energy emotionalism, and bounced around the map as much as Thomas Rhett does on stage.

“I just put my blinders on and my head down to try and make really fun music,” the singer-songwriter says. “I’ve tried to have a fearless attitude, which may or may not work … but even if it doesn’t work, I can at least die by the sword I committed to.”

In typical fashion, the relentless songsmith had a lot of material to work with. Starting in earnest as the summer of 2023 began, he ended up with roughly 150 songs – but instead of following the double-album trend (which was a real consideration), Thomas Rhett went in the opposite direction, choosing eight he couldn’t live without and building from there.

Fourteen anthemic instant classics were the result, diverse in style but connected by a sense of movement. Skipping his usual array of ballads (except one absolute standout), the tempos were kept high and the melodies tight, and while organic country makes up the foundation, layers of “‘80s retro sounds” and thumping beats help Thomas Rhett find new ways to do what he does so well – tribute a woman’s love. Now enjoying a life chapter that allows him and wife Lauren a little space to tend their romantic flame – the muse for so much of his work – the famous family man shines with renewed excitement.

“I feel like if you were to ask me what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife, and I think we got the opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways,” he explains.

Rhett co-wrote all but one track on the project, working with a team of trusted Nashville hitmakers and pop-schooled newcomers to get the best of both creative worlds. It was a similar situation in the studio, as once again producer Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Shania Twain) was joined by Julian Bunetta (One Direction, Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims), and others who often had a hand in creating a track they co-wrote. Easy-going recording sessions were often led by Bunetta, Thomas Rhett notes, and relaxed vocal performances helped convey an effortless sense of confidence.
