We’re very excited to host Tyler Ramsey for a special in-store performance and album signing on Friday, February 9th at 5:00 PM, to celebrate the release of his new album, New Lost Ages! The album is due out 2/9 and is available to preorder in the record store and on our site now on Natural Warm Grey Vinyl and on CD. Preorders for local, store pickup include a wristband guaranteeing entrance to his 2/9 in-store performance & signing event. (Kids 12 & under do not need a wristband.)
New Lost Ages was recorded at the legendary Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, Washington, by storied producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, The Shins, Built to Spill). This 10-song LP documents an ongoing sonic quest within Ramsey — meticulously wandering across the musical landscape, this undulating tone of indie, rock and folk stylings. “Each album carries me down a different path, every record drawing in new people, new experiences,” Ramsey says. “And New Lost Ages was this new process, where I really trusted a producer by handing over my songs and was willing to work on anything that he felt needed work.”
Situated in a power-trio formation — including bassist Morgan Henderson (Fleet Foxes) and drummer Sean Lane (Ann Wilson) — Ramsey found himself fronting a full-on rock outfit, a scenario that conjured fresh inspiration and straightforward determination within the recording process. “At first, it was intimidating to walk into a room with these super talented musicians and just put my songs down in front of them,” Ramsey says. “But, they’re killer musicians and we were able to pull it off in a short amount of time. We figured out all of the arrangements pretty quickly and played our parts live.”
New Lost Ages is about peeling back the layers of oneself, to locate and open up the dusty boxes of your past from the back of the closet of your mind. It’s memories and mistakes, lessons and lifelines bringing the present moment into focus — the future bright with possibility and purpose, so long as you never forget the road to the here and now.
We’re thrilled to be able to host Tyler Ramsey at Grimey’s and celebrate New Lost Ages with him and all of you! Ramsey’s set starts at 5:00 PM, with an album signing immediately to follow. Preorders can be picked up in the store starting on 2/9 at 11:00 AM, when we open. Wristbands will be distributed with album pickup and are non-transferable. This is an all ages shindig, so come one, come all!
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
