Big Red Machine – How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last? CD/2xLP (Jagjaguwar)
The generous spirit and desire to push music forward has never been more deeply felt than on Big Red Machine's How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last?, the second album from Aaron Dessner's ever-morphing project with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. In 2008, while assembling material for the charity compilation Dark Was The Night, Dessner sent Vernon a song sketch titled "big red machine". Vernon interpreted "big red machine" as a beating heart and finished the song accordingly - a metaphor Dessner says "still sticks with me today. This project goes to many places and is always on some level about experimentation, but it shines a light on why I make music in the first place, which is an emotional need. It's one of my therapies and one of the ways I interrogate the past." Guests include Taylor Swift, Sharon Van Etten & Robin Pecknold, and others.
Black Noi$e – Oblivion LP (Tan Cressida/WB)
Detroit producer Black Noi$e drops his latest project, Oblivion. The release includes features from Earl, Danny Brown, MIKE, Duendita and more, as well as the previously released singles, "Mutha Magick" featuring bbymutha, which Nylon described as "a steely, high-intensity Noi$e beat with commanding raps from the Chattanooga, TN oracle," and "The Band" featuring Dallas-bred, L.A.-based artist Liv.e, which DJ Booth called "a swaying funk of crunchy guitars and drums."

Bleachers - led by five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, Jack Antonoff - follow-up 2017's critically acclaimed Gone Now with their third studio album, Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night. "Stop Making This Hurt" is the first single and third offering from the record issued on the heels of "Chinatown" featuring Bruce Springsteen and "45" which were met with critical praise in late 2020. The New York Times hailed Bleachers' new music as "anthemic life-affirming pop-rock."

Clear vinyl pressing. The Life of Pi'erre 5 includes features from longtime collaborator, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Sharc. The momentum he's built over the years continues with a spot at Rolling Loud Miami this summer and a European tour in the fall. Jimmy Buffett – Songs You Don’t Know By Heart 2xLP (Mailboat)
Double blue color vinyl pressing in gatefold jacket. Buffett’s COVID quarantine album is comprised of 15 acoustic recordings of deep catalog songs as voted by fans.
Chvrches – Screen Violence CD/LP/Cassette (Glassnote)
Chvrches' highly anticipated fourth studio effort, Screen Violence was recorded almost entirely remotely between Los Angeles and Glasgow with members Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook self-producing and mixing the album via video calls and audio sharing programs to create something that is unique and special, but inherently their own. Screen Violence was originally conceived as a name for the band. A decade later, and during a pandemic when the reality of screen violence has never been more pertinent, struggling to make the people you love feel more than the characters on a TV show, and experiencing a world of trauma as if it were another, Chvrches revived the term for their new album title. Narrating the theme of Screen Violence in three main forms – on screen, by screens and through screens – the album touches on feelings of loneliness, disillusionment, fear, heartbreak and regret. [Indie store exclusive red vinyl.]

Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. The sixth studio album from the Grammy Award winning recording artist features contributions by 21 Savage, Morray, Bas, Lil Baby and 6LACK.
Andrew Cyrille Quintet – News CD (ECM)
The new album from the quartet led by innovative jazz drummer Andrew Cyrille carries the story forward from the 2016 release, The Declaration Of Musical Independence. Each of the players (Bill Frisell, Ben Street and David Virelles) has space for improvisational expression, but it is Cyrille's communicative sensibility and what the New York Times called his “watchful, flowing pulse that guides the band.”
Jesse Daniel – Beyond These Walls LP (Jesse Daniel)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Follow up to 2020's critically acclaimed breakout album, Rollin' On. “From traditional country, rowdy honky tonk and heartbreaking ballads to Mexican rancheras, corridos and bluegrass, this record dives into the influences that formed my sound,” Jessie says.
Death Cab For Cutie – The Georgia EP 12” (Barsuk)
Limited 180gm peach color vinyl pressing. This is the same EP that was released digitally in December 2020 for one day only on Bandcamp to raise money for the amazing Georgia-based voter rights organization Fair Fight Action. Madi Diaz – History Of A Feeling CD/LP (ANTI-)
Rage, confusion, despair, self-deception, and introspection – Madi Diaz cycles through the full spectrum of emotions on History Of A Feeling, her new album. It's an album that undeniably marks Diaz's status as a first-rate songwriter, a craft she's spent years refining, and one wherein Madi establishes herself as an artist capable of distilling profound feelings with ease. Diaz pulls from a range of folk, country, and pop leanings – she is as much influenced by Patty Griffin and Lori McKenna as she is the sonics of PJ Harvey and directness of Kathleen Hanna. On History Of A Feeling, the Nashville based songwriter comes to terms with the dissolution of a meaningful relationship. By the end of it, she wills herself into a self-reflective state where she doesn't hate herself for being so heartbroken. [Indie store exclusive clear vinyl.]
Indigo De Souza – Any Shape You Take LP (Saddle Creek)
"Everything has to be said." This is the conviction guiding Indigo De Souza's sophomore album, Any Shape You Take. This dynamic record successfully creates a container for the full spectrum – pushing through and against every emotion: "I wanted this album to give a feeling of shifting with and embracing change. These songs came from a turbulent time when I was coming to self-love through many existential crises and shifts in perspective." Faithful to its name, Any Shape You Take changes form to match the tenor of each story it tells. "The album title is a nod to the many shapes I take musically. I don't feel that I fully embody any particular genre – all of the music just comes from the universe that is my ever-shifting brain/heart/world," says Indigo. [Limited-edition tangerine marbled vinyl.]
DMX – Exodus CD (Def Jam)
Exodus, executive produced by the legendary Swizz Beatz, solidifies DMX as part of today's conversation and a forward motion in hip-hop. Through the heartfelt lyrics and production, Exodus is a tribute to every fan that supported DMX and will continue his legacy.
Tim Easton – You Really Don’t Know Me CD/LP (Black Mesa)
A mainstay of American roots music for more than 20 years, Tim Easton crafts songs that blur the lines between folk, blues, and workingman’s rock ‘n’ roll. Make no mistake, though ― Tim Easton is done running in circles. Rejuvenated by sobriety and solace, he’s moving forward with conviction, punctuating his personal music with universal messages. You Don’t Really Know Me finds him making peace with the past and focusing on the present. “Gone are the wistful, drunken wanderer tunes of the past,” he explains. “These are songs for today.” And today, Easton is feeling good. [Limited edition mustard color vinyl will arrive next week.]
Andy Falco – The Will Of The Way LP (Americana Vibes)

Kenny Garrett – Sounds From The Ancestors CD/2xLP (Mack Avenue)
Composer/saxophonist Kenny Garrett emerged as a distinctive voice on the national scene in 1978 with an undisputed aptitude for emotive melodic phrasing that led him to collaborations with Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Art Blakey and Miles Davis. With Sounds From The Ancestors, Garrett remembers the spirit of the sounds of African ancestors from church services, recited prayers, songs from the work fields, Yoruban chants and African drums, alongside tributes to Roy Hargrove and two drum pioneers - Art Blakey and Tony Allen - who all looked into the past to influence the future sound and evolution of jazz.
Martin Gore – The Third Chimpanzee Remixed 2x12”+MP3 (Domino)
Released last week on CD – now available on limited edition translucent orange and blue vinyl. Features remixes from ANNA, Chris Liebing, Rrose, Jlin, Barker, Wehbba, JakoJako, The Exaltics, Kangding and MoReVoX.
Steve Gunn – Other You CD/2xLP+MP3 (Matador)
The sixth studio album by American singer Steve Gunn, Other You, was recorded during two visits to Los Angeles. The relocation was in a way more than geographical – the surroundings, warm climate and tight-knit studio team encouraged Gunn to tap into new approaches, techniques and emotional reservoirs, casting off established notions, habits and hang-ups. A featherlight touch coasts through the album – from the classical guitar and piano interplay and soulful baritone of the title track, nimble drum brush swing at the heart of "Fulton" and "The Painter", slow-burn kosmische rock of "Protection", electric piano pulses and majestic tremolo stabs of "Reflection", to the cascading harps of "Sugar Kiss" – it is easily Gunn's brightest and most life-affirming work to date. He is assisted by contributions come from friends and fellow artists including Juliana Barwick, Mary Lattimore, Bridget St. John, Jeff Parker, Bill MacKay, Ben Bertrand, drummer Ryan Sawyer (TV On The Radio, Thurston Moore, Gang Gang Dance), and others.
Halsey – If I Can Have Love, I Want Power CD/LP (Capitol)
“This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.” [Indie store exclusive translucent orange vinyl.]
Kat Von D – Love Made Me Do It CD/LP (Kartel)
Gifted multi-hyphenate Kat Von D begins an electrifying new chapter in her career with the release of her debut album, Love Made Me Do It. Having been a classically trained pianist since her youth with a deep appreciation for music of all genres, Kat poured her heart and soul into the project which features collaborations with Dave Grohl, Linda Perry, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Ladyhawke and Charo. A pastiche of shapeshifting analog synths, post-punk dreamscapes, gothic hues, and shy pop magnetism, these eleven songs echo the eternal will of the perennially brokenhearted to love until death. Of the album, Kat said, "‘Love Made Me Do It' is a collection of all my hopeless romantic thoughts poured into one album." [Indie store exclusive glow in the dark vinyl.]
Masego – Capitol Cuts - Live From Studio A LP (Capitol)
Masego - hailed as one of music's most promising chameleons by NPR Music - kicks off the Capitol Cuts series with live performances captured at the historic Capitol Records Studio A - including a performance of “Silver Tongue Devil”, a track from his acclaimed new EP, Studying Abroad, some deeper catalog cuts as well as a cover of Brasstracks' “Golden Ticket”, a song on which he was featured on the original recording.
Mega Bog – Life, And Another LP (Paradise Of Bachelors)
On Life, And Another, Mega Bog (the world-inhabiting moniker of song-animator Erin Birgy) tends a succulent garden full of plants that the unwitting passerby might mistakenly perceive as extraterrestrial, but which are in fact very much of this Earth. Departing from the humid Holodeck spider plant nursery of previous record Dolphine (2019), Mega Bog's new album brings us back to our home planet, into the rarefied air pressure of a dried-up desert valley where it's fourteen songs were written and scattered like stones in the landscape.
OneRepublic – Human CD (Mosley Music/Interscope)
Billions of people have listened to Beyonce’s “Halo”, Adele’s “Rumour Has It” and Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Heart”. Each of these pop hits have reached top spots in the charts. These three songs share a commonality: Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. From writing songs for other artists, producing their own hits, having numerous television and movie appearances and winning three Grammy awards, OneRepublic became a powerhouse of talent and should be the quintessential example of success in the music industry. The band’s new (fifth) album, Human, features the singles "Rescue Me", "Somebody To Love", "Wanted", and "Run". "[Human] is re-calibrating everything," Tedder says. "The last album, we stopped promoting it and kinda pulled the plug. I didn't have it in me to do anything for it. This is us returning to what the original sound was: strings; orchestral; emotive...” [Vinyl edition due October 1.]
Pardoner – Came Down Different LP (Bar/None)
Came Down Different's loose guitars, walls of feedback, and pummeling hardcore combine with genuine pop hooks for a visceral sound not unlike a trip to the dentist's office and a Novocain high, serving as a full circle testament to Pardoner's staying power.

Suzanne Santo – Yard Sale CD (Suzanne Santo/Soundly Music, LLC)
Suzanne Santo has never been afraid to blur the lines. A tireless creator, she's built her sound in the grey area between Americana, Southern-gothic soul, and forward-thinking rock ‘n’ roll. It's a sound that nods to her past – a childhood spent in the Rust Belt; a decade logged as a member of the L.A.-based duo HoneyHoney; the acclaimed solo album, Ruby Red, that launched a new phase of her career in 2017; and the world tour that took her from Greece to Glastonbury as a member of Hozier's band – while still exploring new territory. With Yard Sale, Santo boldly moves forward, staking her claim once again as an Americana innovator. It's an album inspired by the past, written by an artist who is only interested in the here-and-now. [Vinyl edition due November 5.]
Bob Schneider – In A Roomful Of Blood With A Sleeping Tiger CD/LP (Shockorama/Soundly Music, LLC)
Austin, Texas-based singer-songwriter and former frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, Bob Schneider has become one of the most celebrated musicians in the live music capital. Combined with his scruffy good looks and diverse musicals styles, Schneider's talent has defied genres. Combing elements of funk, country, rock, and folk with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic, Schneider draws inspiration from the '70s with a modern twist reminiscent of Beck. His powerful lyrics tackle tough subjects about alienation, drug addiction, and lost romance. Schneider returns with In A Roomful Of Blood With A Sleeping Tiger and the Kurt Vonnegut-inspired single "Lord Of The Flies".

Laura Stevenson – Laura Stevenson CD (Don Giovanni)
Laura Stevenson begins her new album in a state. "I'm in a state again, but I stay polite," she sings queasily over a nest of scraping cello strings. For an uncomfortable minute the uneasiness lingers until the song explodes into an incantation: "It keeps me alive." It is a powerful and apt beginning for a record that finds the acclaimed singer-songwriter charting – in exacting detail – some of the most turbulent states of her life. Here she documents a crisis in real-time, "I relocated for a bit after finishing my last record, to help someone that I love very much who was going through something absolutely unthinkable," she explains. The album follows every turn as that year unfolded, from rage to helplessness, desperation, and in its own sort of way, acceptance. "For obvious reasons, I won't be discussing the specific nature of what happened. I left everything kind of open-ended, but I think doing that helps people relate more to the general experience of going through a crisis or helping someone else through one," Stevenson says, a sentiment that comes through on every moment of her self-titled album. [Vinyl edition due October 29.]
TesseracT – Portals 2xCD/3xLP (Kscope)
Following on from 2018's critically acclaimed studio album, Sonder, TesseracT, during a global pandemic decided to come together to present Portals – a cinematic live experience like no other. The band took livestreams to a new level by interspersing a conceptual storyline with their live performances that featured a colossal and highly spectacular arena-style light show. TesseracT is a band that sit outside the bounds of any genre specificity, pioneers of the ever-evolving rock and metal scene, with an unstoppable force of off-kilter riffs, soaring melodies and disorientating atmospherics. They put all of this into the December 2020 event that featured the band performing songs spanning their entire catalogue.
Thyrfing – Vanagandr CD/LP (Despotz)
Leaning heavily on their ever-present connection with Norse mythology, Vanagandris a celebration of the tales and stories of Scandinavia. [Limited-edition black & grey color vinyl.]
Yann Tiersen – Kerber CD/LP (Mute)
Kerber is a new chapter in Yann Tiersen's career. If Portrait was revisiting and reassessing the past, Kerber draws a line under that and looks to the future. Both a follow up to EUSA and an album unlike any Yann has made before. Kerber takes its name from a Chapel in a small village on Ouessant. Influenced by the close geographical area around him, each track is tied to a place, mapping out the direct landscape around Yann's home. Rather than being a reflection on isolation, the record is an expression of being conscious of your own direct environment and your place within it. The album takes the solo piano themes from EUSA and marries them with electronics. The electronic samples are enhanced by the acoustic elements - it's the reverse process to what Yann has done before. This is a piano-centered electronic album. [Indie store exclusive white vinyl.]
Turnstile – Glow On LP (Roadrunner)
New album from the Baltimore hardcore band. 15 tracks devoid of borders, boundaries, or entry obstacles, only abundant imagination, heart, and grooves plucked from all corners of the musical spectrum.

Boris – Flood [Reissue/2000] 2xLP (Third Man)

Boris continues their bountiful output with two monumental vinyl versions of their milestone releases: 2000's Flood and 2020's NO on Third Man Records. Flood was originally released in Japan on CD only. Delivered in four equally important movements, Flood is simultaneously delicate, dense, undulating, devastating, emancipating, hypnotic and triumphant. [This title shipped late and will arrive early next week.]
Boris – NO LP (Third Man)

Initially released digitally (with a very limited vinyl run), the album was met with immediate and widespread praise. Meant to serve as a mirror that redirects the negativity of the global lockdown to something more positive, the content on NO can be characterized as "extreme healing music." Musically, NO draws from influential noise-heavy hardcore group Gudon, even including a cover of their song "Fundamental Error". NO is a classic hardcore thrash record and is one of the band's strongest efforts. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available. This title shipped late and will arrive early next week.]

Under Construction Part II is the third studio album released by hip-hop duo Timbaland & Magoo. The album is the group's third LP, and Timbaland's fourth overall LP. Under Construction Part II is nominally a sequel to Missy Elliott's fourth LP Under Construction, which was also chiefly produced by Timbaland. Elliott appears on the LP's lead single, "Cop That Shit", released to radio as "Cop That Disc", as do regular Timbaland collaborators such as Sebastian and Bubba Sparxxx. Many other guest stars, from Brandy, who had Timbaland produce her 2004 album Afrodisiac, to Wyclef Jean and Beenie Man, also appear on the album. The song "Indian Flute" contains an uncredited sample of "Curura" by Toto la Momposina.
Kelsey Waldon - The Goldmine LP (Oh Boy Records)
Oh Boy Records recently released Kelsey's 2014 album The Gold Mine on vinyl for the first time. Kelsey dropped by the shop a couple of days ago and signed all our copies for us! Those are available in the record shop for local purchase now (if we make copies available for mail order, we'll be sure to post on social when we add them to our webstore).
