Jonathan Wilson is a musician's musician. He's an in-demand producer (Father John Misty, Dawes, Conor Oberst) and accompanist, playing lead guitar in Roger Waters' touring band as well as lending his talents to records by Jenny Lewis, Bonnie Prince Billy, Erykah Badu, Roy Harper, Chris Robinson and more. Wilson is also an astounding artist with three terrific solo albums that evoke classic rock touchstones from Neil Young and Pink Floyd to the Grateful Dead and the halcyon days of the Laurel Canyon scene. Even with all the well-placed sonic references, Wilson's music is not derivative. His latest album, 2018's 'Rare Birds', features a lush sound that recalls The War On Drugs or Wilco but "uses familiar sounds to take you on a totally new journey - and it's an album in the classic sense, where the songs add up to more than the sum of their parts" according to Variety. I'm such a big fan myself that I begged him to play at Grimey's several years back (which he did!) so I'm very excited to announce that Jonathan Wilson will return to Grimey's this coming Monday, February 18th, at 6pm for a free in-store performance. He's playing 3rd & Lindsley the evening prior, for the Lightning 100 Sunday night live broadcast. This is a very last-minute booking so please help us spread the word and join us for this special, intimate show.
