Black Pumas have been described by radio station KCRW as "Wu-Tang Clan meets James Brown", and by one our our store managers as "some real smokin' hot s***"! Though they're just a duo of Adrian Quesada and Eric Burton, they bring more energy and groovy vibes than two mere mortal men should ever be able to deliver. Black Pumas' sound is one that is simultaneously indebted to groovemasters of years past, drawing on influences from Stax to afrobeat and more, but is also forward-thinking and innovative in a way that doesn't make the band at all feel derivative or unoriginal. Black Pumas is one of the best albums released this year. It's been in rotation at Grimey's since its release and we're psyched to welcome this exciting new group out of Austin, TX, onto our Grimey's stage - come by the store and jam to their jams with us on Tuesday, September 24 at 6PM!
