We hope you’ll make plans to join us on Saturday, September 9th at 5:00 PM for our Fleetwood Mac Rumours Live listening party! On Friday, September 8th, Rhino Records is releasing Rumours Live, a double LP and CD set that catches the band back in their ‘hometown’ at the Forum, hot off the heels of their worldwide Rumours album tour. At our listening party we’ll be hanging out, drinking cold Tennessee Brew Works beer (free for attendees; 21+ only with valid ID), and listening to Rumours Live in full. We’re also going to be giving away some pretty sweet Rumours Live prizes to attendees including felted slip mats, 11”x14” ‘vintage’ prints, and two special 18”x24” posters, numbered and signed by graphic artist Dylan Fant. (Raffle tickets are free, customers must be present to win.) This is a free & all ages shindig, so come one, come all!
Fleetwood Mac was at the top of its game in August 1977 when the band returned to its adopted home in Southern California to play three shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. Rumours had only been out a few weeks when the band left in February to tour the world, returning six months later to play three shows at The Forum for nearly 50,000 fans. Rumours Live captures the energy and excitement of the band’s opening night at The Forum on August 29, 1977. The concert’s setlist draws almost exclusively from Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, the first two albums recorded by the band’s latest incarnation: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, and the newest members, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. The lone nod to Fleetwood Mac’s other nine studio albums is a performance of “Oh Well,” a rock-guitar masterpiece originally released in 1969 and written by the band’s founder, guitarist Peter Green. The concert remained unreleased for decades until 2021, when “Gold Dust Woman” and “World Turning” from the show were included as a bonus tracks on Live: Deluxe Edition, Rhino’s expanded version of Fleetwood Mac’s 1980 concert album. The other 16 songs on the collection have never been released before. Rumours LIve will be available in the record stoer starting 9/15 as a 2 LP vinyl set and on CD.
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
