Bingo + The Bible: A Lambchop Record Release Celebration with Kurt Wagner

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

We hope you’ll join us when we welcome Lambchop mastermind Kurt Wagner back to Grimey’s to celebrate the release of Lambchop’s new album The Bible. Kurt will join us for a DJ set and to lead the crowd in a spirited game of bingo! We’ll also have prizes courtesy of Merge Records. This is sure-to-be fun and entertaining event for all ages, and it’s free!

The music on The Bible is more unpredictable than it's ever been on a Lambchop record. Jazz careening into country, into disco, into funk, and back to country. Bandleader Kurt Wagner trusts his own voice - that he can tie all those sounds and styles together with his own words and phrasing, whether the lyrics are observing the dire headlines of racial strife from that summer in Minneapolis when he recorded The Bible, or just the graffiti outside the former paint factory where it was recorded, or the bumper stickers out on the highway, or his own feelings about his father confronting his mortality back home, or about him doing the same on his own wherever he may be in the world. This is Lambchop's new album - born in a new place but out of a process that he first discovered back home at Nashville's Springwater Supper Club, the one that helped him find his own voice in the first place. Amen.

We will have for sale an extremely limited edition grey & white marble vinyl of The Bible, exclusive to Grimey’s and Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, with an etched D-side, and that has been autographed by Kurt(!), plus limited edition Peak Vinyl (yellow & black marbled vinyl) and the CD. ONLY the exclusive Grimey’s/Electric Fetus variant will be personally signed by Kurt. You can also preorder your copy in the Grimey’s webstore here.

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is an inexpensive paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. (This is no fun at all.) If possible, please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend our Lambchop event.
