We hope you can join us on Saturday, July 1st at 5:00 PM for a special BEER:30 and in-store event with Live to Vinyl Nashville. We’ll be a couple of local artists whose performances will be cut into a PVC vinyl record in real-time using a portable vinyl cutting lathe, a process similar to the direct-to-disc process. In addition we’ll also be sharing complimentary Tennessee Brew Works beers for our weekly BEER:30 hang. This event is free & all ages, however those so inclined to have a beer with us must be 21+ (valid ID required.) All tips collected for beer shared are donated to the Just Us program, part of Oasis Center in Nashville.
Nashville-based artists Lauren Strange and Symbasyd will each perform songs in the record store that will be cut into a record in real-time! Lauren Strange is a singer-songwriter who is also a longtime student and performer of classical music. You can check out her 2020 album The Solution on her bandcamp page here. Symbasyd hails Chicago were she was raised around African-American art of all kinds, quickly becoming a product of the creative energy that surrounded her. Combined with her exposure to Jazz, R&B, and Hip-Hop, SymbaSyd’s style can be described as a fusion of neo-soul and indie with hip-hop roots.
The records they’ll cut at our Live to Vinyl Nashville event are made of PVC and have the same playability as any other vinyl record. And after our event the artists will be able to take their records home with them to hear their live performances play from their own turntables! We encourage you to come out to get a unique look into the direct-to-disc recording process and see maybe some artists who might be new to you. The Dive Motel and The Vinyl Lab have hosted similar events with Live to Vinyl Nashville with great response from participants and we can’t wait to host them here!
