We hope you can join us for a special in-store performance with The Pink Stones on Friday, June 30th at 5:00 PM. We’ll be celebrating the release of their new album, You Know Who, with a performance by the band and a signing to follow. Nashville writer, comedian and Metro Council at large candidate, Chris Crofton, will be MC-ing the event and talking briefly about his campaign and why he’s getting involved in local politics. We’ll also be joined by the East Nashtivists, a grassroots organization who will be registering voters & spreading the good word about getting involved! Customers who preorder the Pink Stones album for local pickup from Grimey’s, via our link here or in the record store, will receive a wristband for The Pink Stones album signing. Wristbands are required for the signing, however those 12 and under do not need a wristband if attending with an adult who has a wristband of their own. Space is limited and wristbands guarantee entrance.
Made up entirely of Athens musicians who play in other bands around town (including former members of the Drive-By Truckers and The Glands), The Pink Stones match their frontman’s vast musical vocabulary while adding their own twists to spacey honkytonk, pedal-to-the-metal trucker anthems, and ecstatic gospel. Their second full-length, You Know Who, is due out on June 30 via Normaltown/New West Records. The 11-song set was co-produced by Henry Barbe and Hunter Pinkston and features guest appearances by Nikki Lane, Teddy and the Rough Riders, John James Tourville of The Deslondes, and Annie Leeth. The album follows their 2021 debut Introducing…The Pink Stones, which was met with critical acclaim. PopMatters said “The Pink Stones reinvigorate cosmic country” while Holler said their debut was “as energized and spirited as it is heartfelt and reflective.” You Know Who is available to preorder now in the record shop or on our site here. All who preorder the album for local pickup will also receive a wristband for their post-performance signing at Grimey’s. Check out this fun video for “Who’s Laughing Now” that the band shot in town featuring Chris Crofton, so you'll know what you’re in for. We can’t wait to see y’all here!
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is an inexpensive paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. (This is no fun at all.) If possible, please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend The Pink Stones record release celebration.
