We hope you’ll make plans to join us on Tuesday, October 3rd at 4:00 PM when we host a special early listening party for Sufjan Stevens’ brand album, Javelin. Due out October 6th via Asthmatic Kitty Records, Javelin is Sufjan’s first solo album of songs since 2020’s The Ascension and it is his first in full solo singer-songwriter mode since 2015’s Carrie & Lowell. The album sound bridges his varied approaches to songwriting. Sufjan uses the quietness of a solitary confession to ask universal questions in songs we can share communally.
Starting at 3:00 PM on October 3rd we’ll begin distributing event wristbands. a limited number of special Stufjan Stevens Javelin posters, and raffle tickets for our special grand prize giveaway—an autographed Sufjan Stevens Illinois poster featuring the since removed Superman image. (No purchase required, must be present to win.) At 4:00 PM sharp we’ll start spinning the album in the shop AND we’ll be making Javelin available for purchase a few days early!! Copies of the album are available to preorder in the record store & on our site here on limited edition Lemonade Colored Vinyl LP and CD.
This is a free & all ages event, however first come, first served. See y’all soon, Nashville!
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
