Jason Isbell is having quite a year. He is serving as the 2023 Record Store Day Ambassador along with his wife and bandmate Amanda Shires and together they released a special limited edition EP recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium for RSD in April. In June Isbell released Weathervanes , his self-produced sixth studio record with his band the 400 Unit. And in October Killers of the Flower Moon, the Martin Scorsese directed film featuring Isbell’s big screen debut, opens at theaters nationally. This month finds Jason celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of Southeastern, his breakthrough solo album, with a special remastered Southeastern reissue of the album on Clearwater Blue colored vinyl and expanded remastered CD and LP multi-disc sets that includes all of the original demos and a live recording of the album from a December 2022 performance at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN.
On Friday, September 29th, release day for the Southeastern reissue, Jason Isbell will join us in the record store at 1:30 pm for an intimate performance with a Southeastern album signing to follow. You can preorder your copy of the Southeastern reissue now in the record store or on our webstore here and receive a wristband for our 9/29 even with Isbell. Each preordered album comes with one wristband, so two preorders = two wristbands, etc. Space is limited and wristbands guarantee entrance. Wristbands are required for the signing for those 13 and over; kids 12 and under with wristband-holding adults do not need wristbands. (Wristbands are non-transferable.)
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
