Greg Loiacono – Giving It All Away LP (Blue Rose Music)
Released in June on CD – now available on white color vinyl. While Greg Loiacono may be best known as a gritty rock and soul man from his work with The Mother Hips and Chris Robinson, the singer who emerges on Giving It All Away, his charismatic new solo album, is a far more sensitive storyteller, one whose tender delivery and heartfelt lyrics lay it all on the line in the plainspoken poetry of Bill Withers or The Everly Brothers. Inspired by the timeless canon of '60s and '70s heartbreak tunes, the collection dives headfirst into the dichotomies of love, exploring happiness, heartache, redemption, and regret, all with great insight and empathy.

Bright Eyes – Lifted Or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground: A Companion 12” (Dead Oceans)
Bright Eyes – I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning: A Companion 12” (Dead Oceans)
Bright Eyes – Digital Ash In A Digital Urn: A Companion 12” (Dead Oceans)
Gold color vinyl Companion EPs featuring alternate/demo/previously unreleased versions of songs from Bright’s Eyes’ fourth, fifth, and sixth albums. "The first three are innocent in a way, because we didn't have an audience when we were making them," Oberst says. "But from Lifted on, I was definitely aware of an audience. Lifted was well-received right away, and then everything happened with Wide Awake and Digital Ash." Those two albums came out simultaneously. And their lead singles - "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)," from the austere, remote Digital Ash, and "Lua," from the warm, folky Wide Awake - debuted in the top two slots on the Billboard Hot 100. "First Day Of My Life", also from Wide Awake, would later be voted the Number One love song of all time by NPR Music's reader's poll. Bright Eyes had officially broken through. It was a heady, exciting time, but also fraught and tense, both because of the band's careening new fame, and because of the state of the world.
Gavin Bryars – The Sinking Of The Titanic [Reissue/1975] LP (Superior Viaduct)
The Sinking Of The Titanic, Bryars' first major composition, was inspired by the tragic event of the British passenger liner's cross-Atlantic maiden voyage. Bryars eloquently reconstructs the passengers' experience - at once forlorn and eerily calming - through assemblages of understated strings and indeterminate elements. A core principle of the piece is that the ship's band continued to play as the vessel went down. One of the most sublime works in the modern classical canon, Titanic remains Bryars' magnum opus. [CD version due December 9.]
Brandi Carlile – In These Silent Days (Deluxe Edition) In The Canyon Haze 2xLP (Elektra)
Deluxe indie store exclusive vinyl edition of Brandi Carlile's 2021 album, In These Silent Days. In These Silent Days chronicles acceptance, faith, loss and love and channel icons like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and Joni Mitchell – the latter two who, by some sort of cosmic alignment of the stars, have turned out to be close friends in addition to being her biggest heroes and inspirations.
John Carpenter – Lost Themes [Reissue/2015] LP+MP3 (Sacred Bones)
Limited vortex blue color vinyl pressing. John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre's most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he's both directed and scored. The themes can instantly flood his fans' musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kung fu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell. The music on Lost Themes asks Carpenter's acolytes to visualize their own nightmares.
Bruce Cockburn – Bruce Cockburn [Reissue/1970] LP (True North)
Bruce Cockburn – Breakfast In New Orleans, Dinner In Timbuktu [Reissue/1999] 2xLP (True North)
Bruce Cockburn – The Charity Of Night [Reissue/1996] 2xLP (True North)
180gm black vinyl pressings. Bruce Cockburn's 1970 self-titled debut recording is noted its blend of youthful enthusiasm and innocence that never quite resurfaced again in his work, especially as Cockburn developed his jazz-folk fusion and became known for both immense skill on the guitar and his activism in support of social causes. Written in 1999, Breakfast In New Orleans, Dinner In Timbuktu is Bruce Cockburn's rallying call to his fans to look forward to the new century, while learning from the past. It contains a travelogue in the album's lyrics to both familiar places of home and family, as well as social imperatives from visits to developing countries. Simultaneously looking back and forward in his music development, Bruce Cockburn's twentieth album The Charity Of Night represents a shift from his earlier folk influenced song-writing towards a focus on jazz that will be reflected in more of his future works.

Ian Dury & The Blockheads – Do It Yourself [Reissue/1979] LP (BMG)
Do It Yourself was the first album to be credited to Ian Dury & the Blockheads rather than Ian Dury alone, although Dury had used the full band name for the "What A Waste" 7" single of 1978. The album was released in the wake of the chart-topping hit single "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick", and reached number two in the charts, behind ABBA's Voulez-Vous.

Waylon Jennings – Live From Austin TX ’89 2xLP (New West)
Double orange colored vinyl pressing. This performance by Waylon Jennings was no April Fool's joke. This was the "new" Waylon, both personally and professionally. He had kicked a 20-year drug habit, split with RCA, and signed a new deal with MCA Records. He discovered a passion for songwriting, teamed with legendary producer Jimmy Bowen, and produced some of the best work of his 30-year-plus career. He credited his wife and soul mate, Jessie Colter, for much of his inspiration. This was Waylon's second trip to the ACL stage, but the one that best captures the raw edge and driving urgency that pushed country music way past its Nashville boundaries starting in the mid- ‘70s.
Karate – Time Expired 5xLP (Numero)
At the turn of the century and after three albums, Karate's tenure within the insular east coast indie rock scene had expired, but the band was just getting started. Collected here is the band's spacious, adventurous, and sometimes difficult second half presented in fastidious detail. This five-LP box includes the trio's Unsolved double LP (including three previously unissued period appropriate tracks), Some Boots, and Pockets albums, plus a first-time vinyl pressing of their Cancel/Sing EP, all annotated by Geoff Farina's account of Karate's adulthood and Andy Hong's insights into the trio's recording process. [Limited-edition ‘cacophony’ color vinyl.]
The Kinks – Percy [Reissue/1971] LP (Sanctuary)
Percy is a 1971 film soundtrack for the British comedy film Percy performed by the English rock group The Kinks with additional orchestral arrangements conducted by Stanley Myers. It was released as the band's ninth official studio album. The songs were written by Ray Davies and include both standard rock/pop songs and instrumental numbers.
Rahaan Roland Kirk – Blacknuss [Reissue/1972] LP (Pure Pleasure)
From its opening bars, with Bill Salter's bass and Rahsaan's flute passionately playing Bill Withers' “Ain't No Sunshine”, you know this isn't an ordinary Kirk album (were any of them?). As the string section, electric piano, percussion, and Cornel Dupree's guitar slip in the back door, one can feel the deep soul groove Kirk is bringing to the jazz fore here.
Kris Kristofferson – This Old Road [Reissue/2006] LP (New West)
Limited blue color vinyl LP pressing. Kris Kristofferson has always identified himself first and foremost as a writer, and true writers know that what works best is giving a piece of themselves to the listener. With the release of This Old Road, Kristofferson lays a chunk of his own soul on every track. This beautifully sparse recording puts an emphasis on his fine lyrics and distinctive voice by featuring Kristofferson, his guitar, and harmonica. The album is so intimate it makes the listener feel as if they are sitting in Kristofferson's living room while he picks and sings just for them.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – Live At The Fillmore 1997 CD/4xCD/3xLP/6xLP (WB)
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers famously played 20 nights at the legendary Fillmore venue in San Francisco in 1997. Six of the shows were professionally recorded and this release features many of the high points of the residency.
