Saba Alizadeh - Temple of Hope LP (30M Records)

How can a sense of beauty be found amidst fear and cruelty? How can all the unspeakable be made audible, but also anger, hope, and an unyielding will to live? With his third album Temple Of Hope, Iranian composer Saba Alizadeh has created a moving homage to the people of his homeland. He transforms the events during the "Woman Life Freedom" movement, as well as the struggles of the population in previous years, into poignant electro-acoustic music. Intensified by the vocals and lyrics of Andreas Spechtl, Sanam Maroufkhani, and Leila Rahimi. In his compositions, Saba Alizadeh combines the traditional string instrument Kamancheh with strings, modular synthesizers, and a no-input mixer. This results in a tense sound that explores the speechlessness and torn emotions between suffering, rebellion, and hope. Historical radio sequences ground his pieces in the culture and history of the country. The strong alienation and deconstruction of these acoustic elements, in turn, point to the incomprehensible -- to existential upheavals and dissolution processes.

Basia Bułat - Basia’s Palace LP (Secret City)

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Basia Bulat doesn’t live in a château. The property at the heart of the songwriter’s new studio album is at once her apartment, her jam-space, and the inside of her head. Basia’s Palace is a place festooned with love and memory, and bad wiring; it’s a paradise that comes alive in the wee hours of the night–a time that’s suited to video games and Leonard Cohen records, when you sit in all that richness and take in all the mess we inherit.

Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee CD/3xLP (W. 25th)

Universally praised, shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, and already hailed by Pitchfork as the 3rd best album of the 2020s, anticipation and conversation around the record has been high. Cindy Lee is the performance and songwriting vehicle of Patrick Flegel (who previously fronted influential indie group Women). Over several albums, Flegel has combined delicate melodies and sheer beauty with moments of experimentation. With Diamond Jubilee, Flegel's undeniable songcraft comes to the foreground, embracing a more instant connection and accessibility. Timeless tales of love and longing, surrounded by sticky hooks, take the listener on an unforgettable journey. Diamond Jubilee was written and recorded over several years by Patrick Flegel in Toronto, Durham, Calgary and Montreal at Realistik Studios. The album was mixed by Steven Lind, who also contributes to several tracks and co-wrote "Baby Blue," and was mastered by Joshua Stevenson. Triple LP on black vinyl comes with 24" x 36" poster. Sam Fender - People Watching CD/LP (Capitol)

Hailing from northeast England, Fender is a British songwriter with a penchant for euphoric, hard-hitting guitar anthems. Bursting onto the scene with a BRITs Critics' Choice win in 2018, his first two albums, Hypersonic Missiles (2019) and Seventeen Going Under (2021), both debuted at #1 on the UK chart and earned Platinum status. With over 2 billion global streams, he has headlined stadiums in Newcastle and at major festivals like Reading/Leeds, while also supporting icons like The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. If Seventeen Going Under was his "coming of age" album, People Watching is his next step - colorful stories and observations of everyday characters living their everyday, but often extraordinary, lives. Sam produced People Watching alongside bandmates Dean Thompson and Joe Atkinson over two years, working first in London in 2023 with producer Markus Dravs, and then early in 2024 in Los Angeles with Granduciel. Fred Again - Ten Days LP (East/West)

Fred Again's upcoming album, "Ten Days", follows his successful Actual Life series and features a collection of tracks inspired by ten significant days in his life over the past year. Fred Again has described these songs as reflections on "small, quiet, intimate moments," with some capturing intensely joyful experiences and others representing more challenging emotions. The album includes collaborations with a variety of artists, such as Anderson.Paak, Sampha, Skrillex, Four Tet, and Emmylou Harris, among others. [Limited edition white vinyl.]

Killswitch Engage - This Consequence CD/LP (Metal Blade)

Killswitch Engage - Adam Dutkiewicz [lead guitar], Joel Stroetzel [rhythm guitar], Mike D'Antonio [bass], Justin Foley [drums], and Jesse Leach [vocals] - first shook the structure of heavy music upon climbing out of snowy industrialized Western Massachusetts in 2000. A musical outlier, the band pioneered a union of thrashed-out European guitar pyrotechnics, East Coast hardcore spirit, on-stage hijinks, and enlightened lyricism that set the pace for what the turn-of-the-century deemed heavy. The band is celebrating an astonishing, 25-year career as one of the most vital and genre-defining bands of the '00s and continues it's incredible legacy by unleashing This Consequence, a masterfully executed record that captures the band's signature sound all the while leveling up on teeth-baring tracks like "Forever Aligned, " "I Believe, " and "Collusion." So Close To What is the third studio album by Tate McRae. This LP represents the journey of growing up when the road ahead feels infinite and the destination increasingly elusive.

Patterson Hood - Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams CD/LP (

Patterson Hood's first solo record in over a decade was born out of a friendship with producer Chris Funk (The Decemberists). The pair would often perform together for fun and during Hood's solo tours, making far-off plans to make a record together. They eventually went into Jackpot Studios in Portland, Oregon. Many of the songs were composed on piano marking a bigger departure from his work with Drive-By Truckers than prior solo efforts. Guest appearances from: Waxahatchee, Wednesday and Lydia Loveless.

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band - Honeysuckle CD/LP (Family Owned Records)

Honeysuckle" is the new record from three time Blues Music Award nominee's The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. Produced and recorded by: Reverend Peyton. Mixed by: six time Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). Special guests include: Gospel music trio The McCrary Sisters who sing on "Looking for A Manger". Blues Music Hall of Famer and Grammy nominated harmonica player Billy Branch plays on "Nell (Prison Cell Blues)", Grammy award winning fiddle player Michael Cleveland plays on "Freeborn Man" and Colton Crawford from The Dead South plays on "The Good Die Young".

Joan Shelley - Mood Ring 12” EP (No Quarter)

Joan Shelley has been quiet since the release of her 2022 album The Spur, a career highpoint and her fifth full-length album over an incredibly fertile and busy eight-year period. She with the "Mood Ring" EP, her first new music in almost three years. The full set of 5 songs bookends a period of immense personal change for Shelley: the birth of her daughter, and moving from the place where she was raised in rural Kentucky. She finished mixing these songs at Louisville studio End of an Ear with the U-Haul parked and waiting, and listened to the mixes on the drive to her new home. This 1-sided 12" is limited to 1,000 copies worldwide. Pressed on clear vinyl with a side-B etching.

Silverstein - Antibloom CD/LP (Unfd)

2025 is a milestone year for Silverstein. The post-hardcore giants will not only be celebrating 25 years as a band, but also the release of their ambitious two-part 11th studio album project - the first part titled Antibloom will be released on February 21, 2025. In May of 2024, the band headed to Joshua Tree, CA to fully indulge themselves in the solitude of the desert and begin studio work on their new album. They found themselves so deeply inspired by the atmosphere that they ended up with more songs than could fit on one piece of music - thus birthing the double album concept. "Antibloom is a reference to the desert, the empty vastness, the harshness, something we experienced while making the record. This is not a concept record, the concept was making a record in this space, and while the lyrics/songs are not directly connected in any shape or form, the concept of death or mortality does appear a lot". [Limited edition magenta vinyl.]

Sunny War - Armageddon in a Summer Dress CD/LP (New West)

Sunny War, also known as Sydney Ward, found inspiration for her latest album Armageddon In A Summer Dress while living in her late father's 100-year-old house in Chattanooga, TN. She initially thought the house was haunted. Eerie sounds and visions led her to write the song "Ghosts." However, she later discovered that hallucinations were caused by gas leaks, shifting her understanding of those experiences but not her artistic focus. Armageddon In A Summer Dress explores themes of memory, loss, and the ghosts of past selves. [Indie store exclusive translucent pink vinyl, signed by the artist.]

Paul Thorn - Life Is Just a Vapor CD/LP (Perpetual Obscurity)

When it comes to songwriting, less is more and simplicity is strength. Just ask Paul Thorn, who's spent three decades turning soulful grooves and small syllables into songs that pack a big wallop. Maybe he learned the power of minimalism from his years as a pro boxer, maybe it just comes naturally. But whether he's targeting heads, hearts, hips or the occasional funny bone, he somehow manages to condense large nuggets of wisdom into tight little mantras, the kind embroiderers stitched onto pillows before internet memes existed. Thorn's new album, "Life Is Just a Vapor, contains some beauties. "Life is a vapor, let's live it while we can"; "tough times don't last, but tough people do" (from "Tough Times Don't Last"); "any mountain up ahead is just a hill" (from "Old Melodies"). They're words of advice, comfort, support, encouragement, often meant to uplift, especially in times of struggle. "I like for people to be touched by music and get something from it, something that they can take with them throughout the day," Thorn says. "Every song on this album, there's a message in it of some sort about how to live life." American Blues Scene writer Don Wilcock calls Thorn "an everyman (who) addresses things we all think about, but few can articulate with the kind of candor, humor and folksy truth that immediately endear him to almost everyone lucky enough to hear his music." Youth Lagoon - Rarely Do I Dream CD/LP (Fat Possum)

Rarely Do I Dream is Youth Lagoon's most comprehensive and audacious album to date. It's a treasure trove of home movies, twangy fuzz guitars, sun-bleached synths, classical pianos, blown-out drums, and Powers' spellbinding melodies, all which feel like an old photograph that's been reanimated in a strange and distant future. - Rooted in love and childhood memoir, Rarely Do I Dream is a triumph of American gothic imagination - where storybook innocence dissolves into a radioactive billow of teenage drifters, drug-addled hustlers, and old-world folklore. Drifting between propulsive electronica and hallucinatory rock songs, Powers' singular voice always glows front and center as the neon road sign pointing home.

Dexter Gordon - Our Man In Paris LP (Blue Note)

Dexter Gordon's 1963 album Our Man In Paris was his first dispatch from Europe and is also symbolically considered to be the last bebop album. The saxophonist assembled a quartet with bebop legends (and fellow expats) Bud Powell on piano, Kenny Clarke on drums, along with the French bassist Pierre Michelot, to record this all-time classic at CBS Studios in Paris. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal. 

J.J. Johnson & Kai Winding - The Great Kai & J.J. LP (Verve Acoustic Sounds)

The first-ever Impulse! Release (catalog number A-1) and known as one of the best efforts of Kai Winding and J.J. Johnson, this 1960 session features a collection of jazz heavyweights, including Bill Evans (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Art Taylor & Roy Haynes (drums). Bill Evans' playing in particular raises this album beyond a mere Kai & J.J. set and spotlights the group as a whole. Verve Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging. 

Ted Lucas - Ted Lucas LP (Third Man)

This self-titled work published album by singer-songwriter and master guitarist Ted Lucas has achieved an almost mystical reputation among aficionados and collectors. Ted Lucas is a seamless marriage of moody odes and raga style instrumentals regarded by many to be, simply put, the greatest private press folk/psych album ever recorded. Lucas was a fixture in the Detroit rock scene of the sixties and seventies. His first band, The Spike Drivers, was one of the very first true psych bands, the Motor City's answer to Jefferson Airplane and The Byrds. Following that band's collapse, Lucas paid bills doing session work with Motown. And there he recorded, in 1972, the demo for Warner Brothers which would become Ted Lucas, released in two private editions in 1975 and known informally to friends and family as The OM Album, after Lucas' own label. The album was released with artwork by the legendary Stanley Mouse originally created for Jimi Hendrix. [Limited edition green vinyl.]

Q Lazzarus - Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazarus CD/LP (Sacred Bones)

This is the first ever album release by cult artist Q Lazzarus. This compilation features the iconic 'Goodbye Horses' alongside a treasure trove of previously unreleased tracks recorded during her time in New York City and London in the Eighties and Nineties. 'Goodbye Horses' first appeared in 1988, via Jonathan Demme's Married to the Mob, but it would not become fully lodged into popular consciousness until it infamously materialized again in Demme's The Silence of the Lambs in 1991. It is now a viral song on TikTok and IG. The album comes out in conjunction with the ocumentary film Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus by Eva Aridjis Fuentes. [Limited edition green vinyl.]

Sonny Rollins - Volume 1 LP (Blue Note)

After Sonny Rollins' first Blue Note appearance with Bud Powell in 1949, the saxophonist returned to make his label debut as a leader in 1956. Volume 1 was classic Rollins, with hard-swinging originals plus a tender ballad that showcase his robust sound and limitless improvisational creativity. Featuring a quintet including Donald Byrd, Wynton Kelly, Gene Ramey and Max Roach. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is mono, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Sun Ra - Prophet LP (Modern Harmonic)

Featuring what may be his only recordings on the Prophet keyboard, these once lost performances expand the omniverse of Ra across a stellar set of lengthy cuts! All recorded in a single day and finally making their terrestrial debut, pressed on red vinyl and packaged with a Prophet keyboard brochure plus notes from Ranthropologist Brother Cleve! What happens when a Prophet meets a Prophet? The answer lies within these grooves. Amongst the hundreds of recordings issued by Sun Ra and his Arkestra, under their various guises, the majority were recorded in concert or in makeshift studios such as their early 1960s set-up at NYC's Choreographer's Workshop. Beyond those, roughly 22 albums were recorded at Variety Recording Studio in New York's Times Square. However, on August 25, 1986, Sun Ra and cohorts entered Mission Control, a state-of-the-art 24-track studio north of Boston, which was teeming with electronic keyboards and otherworldly sound generators. Nestled within that arsenal was a brand-new digital ultra keyboard - the Prophet VS ("Vector Synthesizer"). Of all the keyboards Ra played throughout his half-century career, the Prophet was one of the most sophisticated. There's no evidence that he had played either of the instrument's earlier incarnations, the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 and Prophet-10. Created using microprocessors, a then-new technological advance, under the auspices of engineer Dave Smith in 1978, the Prophet-5 revolutionized electronic music as the first polyphonic and, most importantly, programmable synthesizer. Ra was intrigued by the Prophet (surely by the instrument as well as by the name). Recorded during a single day, it's about time that these once lost performances have now been found.
