Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's

New Releases

Arch Enemy - Blood Dynasty CD/LP (Century Media)

Arch Enemy release their 12th studio album, Blood Dynasty, following the release of the surprise single “Dream Stealer” by the veteran metal band at the end of July. Founding Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott stated, “This new album pushes the boundaries of what we’ve done before — it’s everything you’ve come to expect from this band, and then some! We can’t wait for you to hear it and feel the energy we’ve poured into every track. Welcome to the Blood Dynasty!” [Indie exclusive milky white vinyl.]

Butcher Brown - Letters from the Atlantic CD/LP (Concord)

Butcher Brown's limitless musical range shows no boundaries by genre and time. The band's newest release, Letters From The Atlantic, displays a seamless blend of jazz, rock, funk, R&B, soul, bossa nova and more. Following Solar Music (2023), Butcher Brown's new project moves toward an indie groove, featuring female guest artists Yaya Bey, Melanie Charles, Leanor Wolf, Mia Gladstone, Victoria Victoria, along with Nicholas Payton & Neal Francis. [Limited edition translucent sea blue vinyl.]

Cactus Lee - Cactus Lee LP (Western Vinyl)

Cactus Lee is Texas music at it's core, a blend of Austin nightclub vibes, and dusty dancefloor energy. A project helmed by prolific Austin songwriter Kevin Dehan, Cactus Lee reflects a deep love for Texas country songwriters, interwoven with the bold spirit of outlaw and outsider influences. With a sound that is at once childlike, dreamy, and sharply witty-reminiscent of icons like John Prine and Tom T. Hall-Cactus Lee has carved a distinctive niche in the music world since it's inception in 2019. Over six albums, including two releases in 2023, a live album, and multiple EPs, Dehan's songwriting and self-recorded efforts on a four-track have been the foundation of a constantly evolving project. On the new self-titled album, Cactus Lee, the songs delve into themes of love, loss, family, and self-discovery, offering fleeting snapshots of characters and moments steeped in an inviting Texas charm. [Limited edition pink vinyl.]

Chase Atlantic - Lost In Heaven CD/LP (Fearless)

Describing Chase Atlantic's sound as of their fourth full-length, LOST IN HEAVEN is both simple and impossible. The Australian-born, LA-based trio is instantly identifiable, yet incredibly difficult to put a title or genre on either their sound or the audience that adores them. They fit in just as well playing massive pop festivals as they do touring with rock bands. With an array of hits across multiple genres, Chase Atlantic has picked up one of the widest-ranging fan bases in all of music. [Limited edition violet color vinyl.]

CocoRosie - Little Death Wishes LP (Joyful Noise)

'Little Death Wishes' is as open and tenderhearted as anything CocoRosie have ever created. The songs tell a kaleidoscopic story of the generational hardship of women and the shattered realities of their lives, the precarious and precious nature of being human, of being done wrong by love, and a final wish to be unbroken. It boils everything CocoRosie down to it's most brutal essence: turning pain into knowledge, sisterhood into polemic, trash into treasure, and recalcifying kitsch and cliché into fresh truths. The duo's 8th long player exists in it's own musical lexicon. It is both primordial and tawdry, a rich bricolage of dusted-over pop culture signifiers that the sisters contort into their own sense of temporality. Contributing to the avant garde, yet unbeholden to contemporary trends, CocoRosie collects musical detritus from other times, which they fashion into their own baroque, theatricalized creations. [Limited edition teardrop aqua color vinyl.]

Lucy Dacus - Forever Is a Feeling CD/LP/Cassette (Geffen)

Widely regarded as "one of the best songwriters of her generation" (Rolling Stone), Lucy Dacus returns with Forever Is A Feeling. Following a career-defining run with boygenius that earned her three GRAMMY Awards, her fourth solo studio album explores falling in and out of love, the tumult of desire, and larger than life romance. Across 13 tracks that range from lush arrangements to simple declarations, Dacus makes a serious inquiry into what it looks like to dedicate one's life to true love, and a valiant attempt to capture the elusive, fleeting feeling of forever. [Indie exclusive liquid gold vinyl with signed insert.]

The Darkness - Dreams on Toast CD/LP (Cooking Vinyl)

The Darkness's 2025 album Dreams on Toast marks a bold new chapter for the band. With their signature blend of flamboyant rock anthems and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, this album cements their place at the pinnacle of British rock. Expect soaring guitar riffs, infectious hooks, and a nostalgic yet fresh take on the genre that will resonate with longtime fans and new listeners alike. [Indie exclusive orange vinyl.]

Deafheaven - Lonely People with Power CD/2xLP (Roadrunner)

Recorded with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen [St. Vincent, M83], Lonely People With Power follows Deafheaven's 2021 studio album, Infinite Granite, which saw the GRAMMY-nominated band charting new ground and expanding stylistic boundaries. On Lonely People With Power, Deafheaven again confound expectations, piling element on element, and towering towards the sky with their most ambitious release yet. Tracked at EastWest Studios, Lonely People With Power includes additional vocal contributions from Jae Matthews of Boy Harsher and Paul Banks of Interpol. [Indie exclusive amethyst color vinyl.]

Destroyer - Dan’s Boogie CD/LP (Merge)

Dan's Boogie is a breakthrough album for Destroyer, both in the sense that it makes moves that no Destroyer album to this point has made, and in the sense that, to record it, Bejar had to burst through a series of intentional and unintentional barriers to write the songs. Initially challenging himself to not write songs so the ideas would well up inside of him until they breached containment, the months following the completion of LABYRINTHITIS turned into one year then two, at which point Bejar gave himself a New Year's resolution to play the piano every day for an hour. That lasted about four days, but the songs Bejar credits as coming from that resolution-"Cataract Time," "Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World," "Bologna," and "Dan's Boogie" among them-are all-timer Destroyer songs across the vast spectrum Bejar and his collaborators have established for themselves: spectacle-laden pop epics, personal piano ballads, and smouldering works of mood that blur the lines between song and novel and cinema, each brimming with the urgency of a state secret in the mind of a tortured spy. [Indie exclusive coke bottle clear with black swirl ‘Peak’ vinyl.]

Envy of None - Stygian Waves CD/LP (Kscope)

Stygian Waves builds on the impeccable musicianship and stellar songwriting of Envy of None's eponymous, acclaimed 2022 debut. With this new album, the Canadian-American supergroup boldly ventures into a spectrum of new guises - from alt-pop and industrial rock to synthwave and hard rock. Recorded primarily in Toronto in 2024 and entirely self-produced, Stygian Waves is the culmination of each member's distinct musical vision, blending haunting melodies, moreish riffs, and richly layered electronic textures into a compelling and unique sound. [Limited edition blue vinyl.]

Girlpuppy - Sweetness CD/LP (Captured Tracks)

When beginning work on the second girlpuppy album, Sweetness, Becca Harvey realized the record-making process itself would be almost as important as the final product. On her first album of alt-pop anthems-2022's gorgeous, folk-infused When I'm Alone-the 25-year-old Atlanta-based singer-songwriter often felt like she was working in the shadow of her collaborators, writing words to their melodies and deferring to their creative impulses. Made on the other side of a relationship where she often felt marginalized, Sweetness felt like the right project for Harvey to rethink her creative approach and work solely from her own lyrical and melodic ideas. The result of this process was a darker, more texturally expansive record than it's predecessor, full of heart-rending songs about pushing back against self-blame and doubt. From it's heavy-duty sonics to it's naturally flowing melodies to it's emotionally generous lyrics, every element of Sweetness exudes confidence, capturing Harvey relishing raw creativity and trusting her inclinations. The record takes place within that moment all artists wait for: when their "voice" becomes so clear, they realize they can just open their mouth and start speaking in it. [Limited edition pink vinyl.]

Gojira - L’Enfant Sauvage LP (Roadrunner)

On their fifth album and first for Roadrunner Records, L'ENFANT SAUVAGE, French heavy metal goliaths Gojira certainly ask their fair share of questions. The French quartet have created their most anticipated release - already being heralded from Revolver to Pitchfork to Alternative Press.

Great Grandpa - Patience, Moonbeam CD/LP (Run for Cover)

Patience, Moonbeam is the first album release by Great Grandpa in 5 years. Whereas Four of Arrows mostly came together in the pressure-cooker atmosphere of the studio with the help of an outside producer, Patience, Moonbeam emerged slowly through a generous, generative demoing process, with Dylan at the helm of the production and mixing. With fewer constraints and more control, the band had the opportunity to explore rabbit holes, backtrack, find new ways in. They experimented with different iterations of a single song, throwing things at the wall to see what would stick. The result is Great Grandpa's most ambitious and confident-sounding album yet. From the sparkling pop-grunge of their first record Plastic Cough (2017), to the sprawling indie rock of Four of Arrows, the band has been on a clear trajectory of both refining and re-defining their sonic identity. Patience, Moonbeam delivers on that promise, taking the band's DNA and elevating it. All of Great Grandpa's signature elements are there- Pat's nontraditional song structures and penchant for hooky melodies, Al's soothing yet stirring lead vocals-but with a sophistication and expanded list of songwriters and sounds that mirror their years of personal growth. [Limited edition amber cloud color vinyl.]

Horrors - Night Life LP (Fiction)

Nearly 20 years since they first began, there are few bands who've created a canon as determinedly innovative and consistently critically acclaimed as The Horrors. They're musicians who'll funnel everything they are into the process, at the expense of health, wealth and sometimes sanity. And so, whilst sixth album Night Life sees the band once more shapeshift into a new form with a new sonic outlook and - this time - a new line up, in some ways The Horrors are still as they ever were. [Limited edition crystal clear vinyl.]

Pug Johnson - El Cabron CD/LP (Break Maiden Records)

El Cabron is the second studio album from Texas-based country artist, Pug Johnson. The songs on El Cabron are simple yet three-dimensional, offering vivid glimpses into the stories and thoughts of characters who all tend to run on pure instinct, unable to escape their own depravity, all the while displaying a deep sense of self-awareness. Intertwining personal stories with fiction, Pug explores themes of corruption, desire, perseverance, love, loss, and then love again. Pulling from a wide variety of musical genres prevalent in the Southeast Texas region he calls home, Pug effortlessly mixes Tejano, Zydeco, Texas Swing, Honky-Tonk, R&B, Dixieland, and down-home Rock and Roll - all behind a voice that is pure Country. Free tote bag with purchase while supplies last.

Alison Krauss & Union Station - Arcadia CD/LP (Down the Road)

For nearly four decades, Alison Krauss & Union Station have upheld their legacy as one of the most influential and widely celebrated acts in bluegrass and roots music. Krauss is a 27-time Grammy winner and was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2021. Known for an immaculately crafted but endlessly surprising sound that transcends the boundaries of roots, country, rock & roll, and pop, Alison Krauss & Union Station are making their long-awaited return with Arcadia – their first LP since the 2011 masterpiece Paper Airplane—a critically lauded, multiple Grammy Award winning LP that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Bluegrass, and Folk Album charts.

Le Motel - Odd Numbers/Số Lẻ LP (Balmat)

It took a village to create Le Motel's Odd Numbers/Số Lẻ. Beneath its pulsing, shimmering tones, the record is alive with the sounds of everyday life -- purring mopeds, idle whistling, the din of kitchens and whisper of rain, voices joyful and contemplative, scenes of bustling cities and domestic intimacy. Le Motel -- who runs the Brussels-based record label Maloca -- gathered sounds, photographs, and videos while traveling in Vietnam in 2023. Back in Brussels after his travels, as Le Motel began working with his materials, he sent early drafts to his contacts, inviting their input. This back-and-forth eventually yielded a dynamic collective effort in which nine of the album's 15 tracks feature multiple composer credits. The result is an album that is not about making sound, broadcasting it as a one-way communication, but instead about the empathic practice of listening -- about listening as an integral and even ethical part of musical creation, even (especially!) when that music is created on a computer, rather than conjured by a group of players sharing space in real time. It's an album that adopts many of the traditional trappings of ambient music while reminding us of the importance of intentional modes of creation.

Branford Marsalis - Belonging CD/2xLP (Blue Note)

Saxophonist Branford Marsalis, one of the foremost jazz artists of our time and a pacesetting creative force in music for more than four decades, makes his Blue Note debut with Belonging, a full album reinterpretation of Keith Jarrett's 1974 ECM album of the same name which was the debut of the pianist's European Quartet. Belonging is Marsalis' first new release since 2019 with his acclaimed longstanding quartet featuring pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner.

Mumford & Sons - Rushmere CD/LP (Glassnote)

Mumford & Sons are back with their fifth studio album Rushmere, produced by Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson). The 10 track album is a triumphant return to form, with upbeat foot-stompers Rushmere, Truth, & Caroline alongside tender ballads such as Monochrome & Where It Belongs.

Palmyra - Restless CD/LP (Oh Boy! Records)

Virginia-based band Palmyra releases their first full-length album via Oh Boy Records. The ten-song project features the band's unique blend of traditional folk string arrangements, lush harmony, and earnest songwriting. Named one of NPR's "Best New Artists of 2024, " Palmyra's sound is often described as a distant cousin to The Avett Brothers with influences from Pine Grove and Houndmouth. They nod toward Appalachian and Midwestern Americana, with intricate arrangements that create the illusion of a full, larger-than-three ensemble.

Perfume Genius - Glory CD/LP (Matador)

'Glory' has a pristine surface and a tender, roiling underside. Mike Hadreas' seventh album is muscular, filled out by his partner in life and songcraft Alan Wyffels and longtime producer Blake Mills alongside the fiercest band Perfume Genius has ever assembled: guitarists Meg Duffy and Greg Uhlmann, drummers Tim Carr and Jim Keltner, and bassist Pat Kelly. For 'Glory,' he discovered a new songwriting process because he welcomed the dynamics of a group, leaving room in his compositions for his friends to flesh out the arrangements. As Hadreas says: "I'm more engaged with the band and the audience. I'm still on some wild tear, but there's more access and it's more collaborative, in a way that makes it better, but also scary-because it feels more vulnerable."... - Daniel Felsenthal

Sacred Paws - Jump Into Life CD/LP (Merge)

Glasgow/London duo of Ray Aggs (Trash Kit, Shopping) and Eilidh Rodgers (Golden Grrrls) took their roots in the punk world and wound it together with myriad influences, from Afrobeat through pop and post-punk, to create a glorious and unique hybrid. Strike a Match, the band's urgent and infectious debut, was released on Mogwai's Rock Action label in 2017 and won the prestigious Scottish Album of the Year Award that same year. It garnered warm critical acclaim, receiving a 7.7 from Pitchfork who said that the band's "tightly-wound art punk unspools their anxiety and turns it into something worth celebrating." That success was quickly capitalized on with another full-length effort, the band's second LP Run Around the Sun, which was released in 2019. More than five years have now passed since that release, and while Sacred Paws' absence wasn't necessarily deliberate, it was certainly intentional, with Ray and Eilidh deciding that rather than force the work, they would take as long as they felt they needed to produce the album they knew they were capable of. Jump Into Life, the lush and layered new album from Sacred Paws, is proof that such a journey was both necessary and significant. Composed of 11 new songs, it takes the roots of the Sacred Paws project and breathes fresh life into it, blossoming into something both abundant and more colorful than has come before-a gentle skewing of their signature sound that feels wildly thrilling.

Bria Salmena - Big Dog CD/LP (Sub Pop)

Bria Salmena's debut solo album Big Dog chronicles a story of transformation-a deeply personal exploration of resilience and a declaration of artistic independence forged through collaboration. Long celebrated as the frontwoman of Canadian post-punk outfit FRIGS and as a vocalist in Orville Peck's live band, Salmena culminates her artistic evolution on Big Dog. Anchored by her commanding voice-alternately tender, raw, and defiant-the album traverses the terrain of vulnerability and connection, marking the arrival of an artist boldly coming into her own. [Limited ‘loser edition’ orchid color vinyl.]

The Smile - Don’t Get Me Started / Instant Psalm Remixes 12” (XL Recordings)

New 12” single of remixes from the Radiohead side project.

Sure Fire Soul Ensemble - Gemini CD/LP (Colemine)

In Latin, the word Gemini denotes "two together" or "twins". In astrological terms, Geminis are noted for, amongst other things, being curious and versatile. For San Diego's 9-piece (mostly) instrumental combo The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, Jazz and Funk have always been the two genres that they've consistently and effectively melded together, forming the bedrock of their sound. Exercising their stylistic curiosity and versatility, they've expanded upon this foundation on their new 11-song long player for Colemine Records. Recorded between late 2021 and early 2024 at The Kitchen II in their homebase of Lemon Grove, California, SFSE steer their "introspective party music" into fresh sonic realms. While their breakbeat-heavy brand of funk-soul-jazz is still the cornerstone of their sound, as displayed in tunes such as "Makin' Moves", "The Grifter" & "Don't Trip", they've begun to take more and more cues from library music labels such as KPM Music, spiritually-leaning jazz labels such as Tribe & Black Jazz Records and exotica-adjacent jazz artists such as Cal Tjader and Dorothy Ashby. Now leaning more into the "introspective" part of their sound, particularly on "Mother Earth", "Freddie" and the title track, they evoke the spirits of Freddie Hubbard, Phil Ranelin, Wendell Harrison, Bubbha Thomas, Chester Thompson and even Cannonball Adderley at his headiest & most cosmic. [Limited edition red vinyl.]

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - IC-02 Bogota LP (Jagjaguwar)

The band Unknown Mortal Orchestra sometimes enjoys making purely instrumental music. In addition to the vocal-based records they're more well-known for, they've also begun to make an instrumental series called the IC where they spend time in a chosen city and improvise and collaborate on non-vocal music. Recently the band spent time in Colombia to make music and initiate their new keyboard player Christian LI. The resulting sessions have become IC-02 Bogota, a musical document of the time they spent in that exciting city and the possible background music for some strange parties and night drives in your future.

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

Bag People - Bag People LP (Drag City)

Bag People were Chicagoans who outgrew their home in the maelstrom of the early 80s NYC post-punk/ no-wave scene. They weren’t around long, but their compulsive noise-rock sound, unearthed from tapes lost for 40 years, looms large and stands tall next to the efforts of better-known contemporaries like Sonic Youth and Swans. A righteous puke of art-punk from a time of incredible brokenness in the world – in other words, savage sounds for today!

Tommy Emmanuel - Live at the Sydney Opera House 2xLP (Many Hats)

Guitar icon, Tommy Emmanuel CGP is releasing a new live album titled, Live at The Sydney Opera House. This album highlights the best performances of his two spellbinding shows at the Concert Hall stage in Sydney, Australia in May 2023. The track-list showcases the most beloved songs of Tommy's career - classical compositions like "Tall Fiddler," "Mombasa," and "Countrywide." It also contains recent fan favorites such as "Fuel," and "Sail On," as well as his now iconic arrangement of "Classical Gas" and his always thrilling "Beatles Medley." These one-of-a-kind performances are now preserved and available for everyone to enjoy!

Iry Lejeune - Viens Me Chercher CD/2xLP (Yep Roc)

Ira “Iry” LeJeune (1928-1955) is widely regarded as one of the greatest Cajun musicians to ever wield a button accordion. Overcoming a lifetime of near blindness, Iry LeJeune reinvented Cajun music through the 25 songs he recorded during his lifetime. In 1955, he died tragically young at the age of 26. Iry’s catalogue captured for posterity his mastery of rhythm, his virtuosity, and the palpable emotion at the heart of his performances. Viens Me Chercher is the brainchild of Steve Weiss, Curator of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library’s Southern Folklife Collection. Across 2020, Iry LeJeune became Steve’s soundtrack to COVIDian times. He combed through the original LeJeune masters housed in the SFC’s Goldband Collection. And, surprisingly, Steve discovered previously unheard master tapes, studio talk, and unreleased alternate takes. It is a treasure trove that brings the listener closer to the music. It provides a glimpse into the recording sessions. It also illuminates the ways in which LeJeune improvised each-and-every performance. That historic material is featured here publicly for the first time, 77 years after Iry’s debut recordings.

Charlie Megira - Boom Chaka Boom Boom LP (Numero)

Charlie Megira's self-reflexive final album found him far from his Beth She'an Valley home and surrounded by a new cast of Hillbillies. After spending 15 years toying with goth, sound collage, grunge, and dark wave, Boom Chaka Boom Boom is a sprawling mix of plunking country blues, Black Lodge terror, ambient montages, 17th century Lutheran hymns, and noodling spaghetti western kitsch. Deck his soul with gladness.

Mid-Air Thief - Gongjoon Doduk LP (Top Shelf)

The pre-cursor to Mid-Air Thief's cult-acclaimed album Crumbling, Gongjoon Doduk exhibits a distinct universality, merging disparate sounds and styles into a cohesive, electronic-infused folk amalgam that tactfully blurs the lines between organic and synthetic. Listeners are led through enrapturing passages of swirling melodies underscored with eloquent plucks, strums, and bursts of bubbly glitches. Individual phrases drift into one another as if in a dream, cohered by entrancing hooks and vocal soundscapes. Gongjoon Doduk is a compelling accomplishment of both composition and production, bending as it does to it's unique contours of consonance and dissonance, always resolving to a place of calm and beauty. [Limited edition orange & pink glow vinyl.]

William Onyeabor - Atomic Bomb LP (Luaka Bop)
William Onyeabor - Body and Soul LP (Luaka Bop)

Buck Owens & His Buckaroos - The Exciting Sounds of… LP (Omnivore)

Earliest known full concert recording of Buck and his Buckaroos. Buck Owens and his Buckaroos were a phenomenon when they burst onto the scene in the early 1960s. In 1963-1964, they had five #1 Country hits including "Act Naturally," "Love's Gonna Live Here," "I Don't Care (Just As Long As You Love Me)," and "My Heart Skips A Beat." Their live Carnegie Hall Concert release hit #1 in 1966, but how exciting they were onstage before that was largely unheard. Unless you were there. Until now. The Exciting Sounds Of Buck Owens And His Buckaroos Live From Richmond, Virginia, 1964 is the recently discovered, earliest full-concert recording of The Buckaroos onstage. [Limited edition strawberry jam color vinyl.]

Emitt Rhodes - Emitt Rhodes LP (Integral)

Emitt Rhodes's self-titled sophomore album was released in 1970. It’s become a power pop classic over the years, beloved by fans of McCartney-led Beatles, Badfinger, The Raspberries, Big Star, Todd Rundgren and more. Rhodes recorded the album in his home studio, but at the time, union rules required that recordings released on major labels be recorded in commercial studios, so this fact could not be mentioned on the cover. Instead. The runout groove of the original LP release on Dunhill Records contained a decorative banner proclaiming, "Recorded at Home." Rhodes wanted to call the album Homecooking, but Dunhill decided to title it Emitt Rhodes instead. He recorded the instruments on a four-track recorder and then approached Dunhill, who gave him a contract. He then transferred the four-track instrumental recordings to an eight-track recorder to add the vocals. The album reached No. 29 on the Billboard 200 and single "Fresh as a Daisy" reached No. 54 on the Hot 100. Billboard later called the album one of the "best albums of the decade".

Santana - Sentient CD/LP (Candid)

Carlos Santana is music's great collaborator, blending his singular guitar style and expansive musical vision with a stunning variety of artists to create something new, unique, and universal. Santana's vision for Sentient was to revisit recent collaborations through a new lens, weaving them together into a sonic pilgrimage that passes through jazz, hip-hop, soul, rock, and Latin rhythms. The songs on Sentient range from recent hits and superstar collaborations to rare, unreleased, and overlooked tracks that Carlos wanted to re-introduce in a new context. [Indie exclusive clear with purple & orange splatter vinyl.]

Seefeel - Quique 2xCD/2xLP (Too Pure)

Seefeel's Quique emerged in 1993 on the Too Pure label, blending elements of shoegaze, ambient, and electronic music into an innovative and genre-defying sound. The record’s complex textures, pulsating rhythms, and ethereal melodies create an immersive listening experience, with tracks like “Climactic Phase #3” and “Industrious” showcasing the band's pioneering approach. Mark Clifford's intricate production, combined with Sarah Peacock’s delicate vocals, crafts a dreamlike atmosphere. Quique was a trailblazer for the fusion of organic and digital soundscapes. CD edition includes a bonus disc of outtkaes and alternate versions.

Sex Pistols - Live in the USA 1978 - Longhorn’s Ballroom, Dallas LP (Ume)

40-plus years on from the Sex Pistols' original creative period together (forged amidst times of poor leadership and economic turmoil), the band continues to resonate in ways most could have never imagined - not least those Stateside who witnessed the performances that make up this vital, primal and compelling release. A document of the last days of the band left to run adrift by absent management on a label that didn't really understand them, in a country that arguably felt more threatened than it did excited by the group. Until their return as a live entity in 1996, everything that followed their short, fateful tour of America in January 1978 was simply a parody of what had been. With concerts finally released in full and correctly sequenced for the very first time, Live In The U.S.A. 1978, takes us back to the moment the creative force that was Sex Pistols imploded. Recorded on January 10, 1978 at Longhorns Ballroom, Dallas. Available on white vinyl.

FLORA was originally recorded and completed in 1987, and remained unreleased until 2006, nearly three years after Yoshimura’s passing in 2003. The album is chronologically and stylistically a follow-up to his acclaimed 1986 works GREEN and SURROUND, wherein Yoshimura continues to play with the ambience of sound and the sound of ambience, underscoring his mastery in the field of environmental music. Yoshimura’s other recorded works include Music For Nine Post Cards (1982), originally produced to be played back inside a museum space, and Pier & Loft (1983), commissioned as accompaniment to a contemporary fashion show. [Sky blue vinyl pressing.]

Will Orman
