Brijean – Macro CD/LP (Ghostly Int’l)
Since their debut as Brijean, the project of percussionist/singer-songwriter Brijean Murphy (the percussive heartbeat for live bands like Mitski, Poolside, and Toro y Moi) and multi-instrumentalist/producer Doug Stuart has moved with ingenuity, fusing psych-pop abstraction with dance floor sensibilities. Through the body and mind, rhythm and lyricism, they make sense of the worlds around and within. [Limited edition tangerine color vinyl.]
Cigarettes After Sex – X’s CD/LP/Cassette (Partisan)
With the release of Cigarettes After Sex's third album, X's, the band finally takes center stage as not just one of today's preeminent indie bands, but as one of the most globally accomplished acts across any genre. Filled with raw, imagistic, sometimes smutty vignettes set to entrancing, slow burn pop songs, bandleader Greg Gonzalez captures every emotion a romantic arc inspires. Clairo – Charm CD/LP/Cassette (Clairo)
American indie-pop luminary Clairo returns with third album, Charm, co-produced by Clairo and Leon Michels (of The Dap-Kings and El Michels Affair). Evoking balmy summer evenings and tête-à-têtes in plush conversation pits, Charm is a collection of warm, ‘70s-inspired grooves that move lithely between jazz, psychedelic folk and soul. [Indie store exclusive purple vinyl.]
Chris Cohen – Paint A Room CD/LP (Hardly Art)
Chris Cohen was always a quiet kid. In fact, this introversion was one reason he began playing music as a toddler-to communicate without speaking, to identify with others without the direct representation of words. It has worked, too, with Cohen's terrific stint in the mighty Deerhoof and his own captivating art-rock act The Curtains, preceding production and session work for the likes of Weyes Blood, Kurt Vile, Le Ren, and Marina Allen. Somewhere along that long way, Cohen started writing lyrics. He found that, though it didn't come naturally, the process offered a new sense of self-discovery and reckoning, a way to see himself and the world from unexpected angles. His three twilit albums of casually complicated pop during the last decade radiated these epiphanies: handling family strife, navigating advancing age, and understanding social woes. But Cohen has never had as much to sing so directly as he does on Paint A Room, his first album in five years. [Limited edition red vinyl.]
The Color Green – Fool’s Parade CD (New West)
Green can represent many things. It can symbolize money, of course, but also weed. And envy. It implies newness, the rebirth of spring, but it can also evoke illness and infection. It's an apt name for a band that is defined by its adaptability, by its knack for doing many different things all at once. On The Color Green's second full-length - their first as a quartet - they ground their cosmic jams in earthy melodies, drawing from '60s SoCal folk-rock, '70s classic rock, '80s underground rock, '90s psychedelic dance-rock, and many other sources. Their songs are vehicles for self-exploration, not just a means of putting their feelings into lyrics and notes but molding them, night after night, into different shapes to get different insights.
Deer Tick – Contractual Obligations 12” (Virgin Music)
Companion EP to 2023’s Emotional Contracts, featuring eight songs from the same sessions. The EP arrives as the band celebrates its 20th anniversary, and it is a heavy-hearted yet wildly life-affirming portrait of growing older without losing heart. [Indie store exclusive baby blue vinyl.]
Ani DiFranco – Unprecidented Sh!t CD/LP (Righteous Babe)
These days, every artist's album needs to have a story. The music can't speak for itself. But after 22 records, why can't Ani DiFranco's work speak for itself? Yes, her album is shaped by stories - ones about reproductive freedom, the double-edged sword of the pandemic, identity and ever-evolving belief systems that have shaped each of its 11 songs. It was paramount to the folk-feminist hero that listeners not be saddled with preconceived notions while diving into her 23rd album Unprecedented Sh!t. [Indie store exclusive clear vinyl.]
The Dip – Love Direction CD/LP (Yep Roc)
The Dip is a Seattle-based rhythm and blues band that is known for its poignant songwriting, detailed arrangements, and vintage sound. Featuring a three-piece horn section, the group's music harkens back to earlier soul and funk influences while hinting at the jazz foundations that brought the band's members together.
The Frontmen – The Frontmen CD (Broken Bow)
The Frontmen features three singers who were the voices of three of the top country bands of the '90s: Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar, Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas, and Larry Stewart of Restless Heart. From their rave review performances around the globe for our troops, to casinos, fairs and corporate events, to their globally televised performance on the steps of the hallowed Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, The Frontmen are making their mark on the country music scene.
Jake Xerxes Fussell – When I’m Called CD/LP (Fat Possum)
Over the last decade, North Carolina's Jake Xerxes Fussell has established himself as a devoted listener and contemplative interpreter of a vast array of lovingly sourced folk songs. On his fifth album, When I'm Called-his first LP for Fat Possum-Fussell returns to a well of music that holds lifelong sentimental meaning, contemplating the passage of time and the procession of life's unexpected offerings.

Giovanni Guidi with James Brandon Lewis / Thom Morgan / João Lobo – A New Day CD (ECM)
Rekindling the familiarly flowing interplay with fellow travelers Thomas Morgan and João Lobo, on A New Day, Italian pianist Giovanni Guidi expands the group’s instrumental grasp with the introduction of American saxophonist James Brandon Lewis. Not only is the ensemble scope widened with Lewis in tow, new dialects and fresh perspectives are broached, and different instrumental paths taken, inspired by an overall heightened sense of communication and his unmistakable, confident tone. [Vinyl edition due July 19.]
Hardy – Quit!! CD (Big Loud)

Quit!! was recorded with Big Loud partner and producer Joey Moi (who's worked with the likes of Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, and Nickelback), and finds Hardy diving further into his rock-influenced sound. Includes musical assistance from Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst. [Vinyl shipped late and will arrive early next week.]
Highschool – Accelerator 12” (PIAS America)
Buzz-worthy post-punk outfit Highschool continue their ascendant 2024 with their highly awaited second studio EP, Accelerator.
Cassandra Jenkins – My Light, My Destroyer CD/LP (Dead Oceans)
Cassandra Jenkins is quite simply one of the best songwriter-storytellers currently making music. Hers is a specific and singular corner of the Great American Songwriters, artists like David Berman, Adrianne Lenker, Jeff Tweedy and Sufjan Stevens. They're artists connected by a sense of immediacy, not just in the writing - which is precise, evocative, brutal at times, pitch-back funny right when you need it - but by their delivery, by the way they sing with an immersive, total belief that carries you through their songs. These are the artists and songs that sneak up and really live with us forever, and on My Light, My Destroyer, Jenkins joins their ranks. [Limited edition pink ‘clear wave’ vinyl.]
Johnny Blue Skies – Passage Du Desir CD/LP (Hight Top Mountain)
After promising to release only five studio albums under his own name, Sturgill Simpson marks the beginning of a new era with Johnny Blue Skies and the release of Passage Du Desir. Released on his own independent label, High Top Mountain Records, the album includes eight songs produced by Johnny Blue Skies and David Ferguson and recorded at Clement House Recording Studio in Nashville, TN and Abbey Road Studios in London, England. [Indie store exclusive gold vinyl.]
LadyCouch - A Matter of Time LP (SSK Entertainment)
“Make no mistake: LadyCouch, the sprawling, posi-vibe-purveying Nashville groove collective — whose roster consists of up to 12 members at a time, and whose sources of inspiration include the Dead and The Band — is here to have a good time. That’s what makes their second album A Matter of Time, recorded with producer-engineer Dan Davis at Southern Ground Studios, such a fun listening experience: It documents a dozen incredibly talented humans enjoying the collective joy of listening to one another, making art that feels both carefree and deeply caring. It’s easy to lose that magic in the churn of the Music City machine, but LadyCouch has held onto it since vocalists Keshia Bailey and Allen Thompson came together as a duo. With their full band, they’ve made a record that feels more like a vacation than a career move.” —The Nashville Scene.
Cassandra Lewis – Lost In A Dream LP (Elektra)
Portland, OR based singer/songwriter Cassandra Lewis has a cosmic blend of classic country, Americana and psychedelic soul. She'll call you into her journey of self-discovery, addiction, love affairs, and a fever dream of in-betweens. Think Dolly Parton, Etta James, and Jeff Buckley at Woodstock 69', then sprinkle it with something otherworldly. Her massive voice, real talk, and wild storyteller's wit will leave you feeling raw and reeling in the dreamiest way.
Listening – Listening [Reissue/1968] LP (Real Gone Music)
Coke bottle clear w/ yellow swirl. While most of the bands (Orpheus, Ultimate Spinach, Beacon Street Union) associated with producer Alan Lorber's "Bosstown Sound" signed with MGM Records, Listening recorded their only album in 1968 with Vanguard. And it's a highly prized one, at that, with original copies selling for triple figures. One reason for that is, unlike many of their more poppy Boston-based peers, Listening boasted an original, swirling, hard-edged sound, full of jazzy and even proggy passages, and keyboardist/singer/songwriter Michael Tschudin's lyrics were openly countercultural. That's future (post-Lou Reed) Velvet Underground member Walter Powers on bass, and blues wunderkind Peter Malick on guitar.
Lumberob – Hunter Gather LP (Joyful Services)
Clear vinyl pressing. Lumberob has always strived for maximalist sonic vaudeville, always hoped for real electro gabber hardcore noise art, always grabbed for frenzied illegibility, always lurched loosely improvised from a psych-swamp of love. On the new album, Hunter Gather, Lumberob swings swanky as proper pop deviance. Built from the same loopy logic which drives the stomping slaphappy force of his live show, these tunes are crafted out of lovely and weirdly thunk out loud and large soundscapes.
Megan Moroney – Am I Okay CD/LP (Columbia)
Am I Okay? is the massively anticipated sophomore album from breakout Country superstar Megan Moroney and is an up-close look at the life-changing pain of heartbreak and the glory of moving on. As she doubles down on the gorgeously detailed storytelling of her blockbuster full-length debut Lucky, the Georgia-bred singer/songwriter lights up every track with her signature balance of raw emotional honesty and warmhearted sensitivity—as well as the endless supply of down-to-earth charm that’s made her one of Country music’s most dynamic new stars. [Limited edition opaque white vinyl.]
OneRepublic – Artificial Paradise CD/LP (Interscope)
The sixth studio album from Grammy-nominated OneRepublic who is comprised of singer/songwriter and lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, Brian Willett on keys, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher. Frontman Ryan Tedder is a 3x Grammy-winner for his songwriting work with Adele and Taylor Swift. He has also had huge, global hits for The Jonas Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Tate McRae, Miley Cyrus, 5SOS, OneDirection, John Mayer, Maroon 5 and more. [A gold color vinyl pressing is available.]
Orquesta Akokán – Caracoles LP+MP3 (Daptone)
Grammy-nominated Orquesta Akokán continue to vibrantly usher the mambo into the 21st century and offer a glorious return to the iconic grooves of an era indelibly marked by Benny Moré and Perez Prado in New York bands and Cuba's orquestas gigantes of the mid-twentieth century. The album's fierce, effervescent grooves are designed to transmit feelings and emotions; this is music which inspires the body to move and the mind to uplift. [An indie store exclusive blue color vinyl pressing is available. CD version due July 19.]
Bones Owens – Love Out Of Lemons CD/LP (Black Ranch)
On sophomore album Love Out Of Lemons, revered Nashville troubadour Bones Owens continues to evolve his cultured rock songwriting while capturing the energy of his renowned live shows. Love Out Of Lemons collects deeply grooving snapshots of carefree times and top-down drives with subtleties that linger long after the party's over. [Limited edition bone color vinyl.]
Phish – Evolve CD/LP (Jemp)
Recorded in the fall of 2023 at the band's studio The Barn, Evolve (the 16th studio album by Phish) was produced by Vance Powell and Bryce Goggin with the 12 songs emerging from the band's dynamic live performances. Some, like fan favorite "A Wave Of Hope," have become springboards for Phish's most soaring improvisation. The songcraft and production are confident and taut, with Phish's distinct musical language on vivid display; still pushing boundaries, still very much continuing to evolve. [Indie store exclusive ‘solar discus’ vinyl.]

Billy's virtuosic guitar playing and innovative approach to traditional bluegrass have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim. His follow-up album, Home, released in 2019, won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album, further cementing his reputation as one of the leading figures in contemporary bluegrass music. [Indie store exclusive translucent blue vinyl.]
Luke Temple & The Cascading Moms – Certain Limitations LP (Western Vinyl)
Lauded for his contributions to Here We Go Magic and Art Feynman, Luke Temple brings his signature off-kilter grooves and melodies to his new project's debut album Certain Limitations. The trio's sound takes influence from the likes of Dire Straits and The Velvet Underground, weaving together intricate guitar work, and a propulsive rhythm section, with a touch of jazz sensibility that recalls the ECM catalog. A product of serendipity, The Cascading Moms were formed when in need of a band for an upcoming show, Temple brought together Kosta Galanopolous, a collaborator from his Art Feynman project, and Stuart, a musician he already knew in LA.
Travis – L.A. Times CD/LP (BMG)
Glasgow's multiple BRIT and Ivor Novello-winning songwriting giants Travis return with 2024's L.A. Times, their tenth studio album. An incredible achievement that arrives 25 years since the band released their breakthrough #1 album The Man Who, L.A. Times marks the beginning of a bold new era for the band. "L.A. Times is our most personal album since The Man Who," says Fran Healy. "There was a lot of big stuff to write about back then, the tectonic plates had shifted in my life. I was 22 when I was writing those songs. They were my therapy. Over 20 years later and the plates have shifted again. There's a lot to talk about." [A deluxe double-CD version featuring a stripped-back version of the album and a ‘freemantle’s green marble’ vinyl pressing are available.]
The White Animals - Star Time CD (Dread Beat)
“When asked what inspired long-running Nashville rock band White Animals to record their first album of new material in more than two decades, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Kevin Gray quips, “Retirement.” It’s true: Gray retired just over a year ago from his day job in neuropsychiatry in the Veterans Affairs North Texas Healthcare System. But if their new album Star Time is any indication, he and his bandmates — co-lead vocalist and bassist Steve Boyd, lead guitarist Rich Parks and drummer Ray Crabtree — are a long way from retiring when it comes to making music. Arguably the best of their career, Star Time has all the ingredients that fueled the band in their 1980s heyday. There’s a unique blend of first-wave British Invasion power pop, rockabilly, Everly Brothers harmonies and dub reggae, all drenched in reverb to give it a psychedelic sheen.” —The Nashville Scene. [Also available: 3,000 Nights in Babylon, a 17-track CD compilation of classic White Animals recordings.]

Donovan Woods – Things Were Never Good If They’re Not Good Now CD/LP (End Times Music)
“It took me a while to make this record - my whole adult life essentially. Early last year, I was struggling to find things to sing about, or reasons to sing at all. A series of failures led me to a point where I entered an addiction counseling program and committed myself to getting to the bottom of myself, right down to the stuff I kept from everyone. It’s been a process. Since then, I’ve held myself to a high standard of total honesty always. I shaved my head. I changed my mind about a lot of things. It turns out the truth really does set you free.” [Indie store exclusive neon green vinyl.]
Thom Yorke – Confidenza: Music For The Film By Daniele Luchetti CD/LP (XL)

Armstrong traveled to England to celebrate this unexpected hit and gave his last great performance, which found him looking back at his entire musical career. That performance, recorded at BBC studios in 1968, was miraculously captured in high fidelity audio and video, and we are proud to release this collection for the first time.

Celer + Forest Management - Landmarks LP (Constellation Tatsu)
First ever vinyl edition of the 2018 release. Inspired by Paul Theroux's novel The Mosquito Coast and Peter Weir's 1986 film adaptation of that book, Landmarks sets out 14 tracks in a 'stunning hour of music' (The Quietus) that creates a 'general sense of foreboding, critique of romantic retreat into individualism and colonialism' (A Closer Listen). Both Americans, Celer (Will Long) resides in Tokyo, Japan and Forest Management (John Daniel) in Chicago, USA. Landmarks was born of their months-long collaboration, trading music back and forth and reshaping each other's work using a series of patches, tape looping, and electronic manipulation. As a throughline in each piece we hear their distinct voices and cultural contexts blend to unique, often otherworldly effect, conjuring a dreamlike tension that refuses easy resolution.

Also featuring a special bonus track titled "Prayer Of A Child" - a brand-new studio recording. The proceeds will be donated in aid of the children in Gaza.
Coil / Nine Inch Nails - Recoiled LP (Cold Spring Records)
Ten-year Anniversary LP Edition. Recoiled is a rambunctious alchemy, of magical COIL sensibilities and hi-tech home circa '90s mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of Danny Hyde/Peter Christopherson. These were the unrestrained studio mix downs of four songs which longtime Coil admirer/collaborator Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) requested Coil to remix. These five lengthy compositions are pre-Ableton/laptop generation type priest song creations, with the use of baby alarms and numerous wires to create bespoke effects. These legendary tracks were always rumored to exist and, only the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum who hunted them down, are released/unleashed for your listening pleasure.
Palmyra Delran – You Are What You Absorb [Reissue/2013] CD/LP (Wicked Cool)
Palmyra’s full-length LP You Are What You Absorb was released in 2013. “The title comes from a lifetime of absorbing music and pinching production ideas, not just listening to music, but deconstructing it and putting it back together my own way” as described by Palmyra. With the release of two singles, Shy Boy and You’re My Brian Jones, Stevie Van Zandt took notice again, and added You Are What You Absorb to the Underground Garage music library.
Dr. John – Frankie & Johnny CD/LP (Sundazed)
A lost solo piano record from the Night Tripper. Originally put to tape in '82 & '83 for the Clean Cuts label, these tracks have remained unheard until now.
The Donnas – Spend The Night [Reissue/2002] LP (Real Gone Music)
Hot pink vinyl. Having lovingly reissued the first four albums by our all-time favorite all-female punk band, we now turn our attention to The Donnas' major label debut for the Atlantic label, where they went after recording a quartet of classics for Lookout! 2002's Spend The Night was by far the band's most popular album, hitting 62 on the Billboard charts, but it wasn't just the major label distribution mojo that upped the sales. This record doesn't have a dud on it and boasts such Donnas devastators as "Who Invited You," "Take It Off," "You Wanna Get Me High," and "Pass It Around."

Empire of the Sun - Ice on the Dune LP (Astralwerks)
Empire of the Sun - Two Vines LP (Astralwerks)
New vinyl reissues of the three albums from Australian pop duo Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. We were big fans of Luke’s previous group The Sleepy Jackson. They played one of our first-ever in-stores back in 2003 at the original Grimey’s location in Berry Hill. I wish they’d reissue Lovers, the fantastic album The Sleepy Jackson were touring behind at the time. Bonus trivia: the band got into a fight while driving their van to Nashville and pulled over on the highway to get out and throw fists, for real. Luke played the in-store with a black eye and the bass player refused to play with him at the gig that night at Exit/In.
Brian Eno – Eno (Original Soundtrack) CD/2xLP (Verve)

Fruit Bats – The Ruminant Band LP (Sub Pop)
Fruit Bats celebrate the 15th anniversary of their acclaimed 2009 album The Ruminant Band with a new, limited-edition pink vinyl pressing. Over the course of the band's prior three records, Eric D. Johnson's Fruit Bats have looked for ways to file down the cynical edge of modern life and found many. Using bright melodies, defiantly major-key chord structures, natural imagery mixed with the occasional blazing insight and tender observation, the Fruit Bats have never shied away from darkness, but more uncommon now, they've refused to shy away from light. With The Ruminant Band, this tradition continues in characteristically rich and involving fashion.

Dizzy Gillespie – The Ebullient Mr. Gillespie [Reissue/1959] LP (Verve)
The band Gillespie assembled for this date - Junior Mance, Les Spann, Sam Jones, & Lex Humphries - was for the most part a working band on the club & concert circuit, offering a mixture of Gillespie's entertaining songs, established repertoire, & some Latin & African-influenced pieces. With them, Dizzy found a middle ground in his music that gave his legacy room to breathe, but with much more rhythmic variety.
John Lee Hooker – The Best Of Friends LP (BMG)
The premise behind this compilation is somewhat unusual: classic tracks, yes, but classic tracks recorded by John Lee Hooker... and friends. Charles Mingus was a virtuoso bass player, accomplished pianist, band leader and composer. Born on a military base in Nogales, Arizona in 1922 and raised in Watts, California, his earliest musical influences came from the church- choir and group singing- and from "hearing Duke Ellington over the radio when [he] was eight years old." His early professional experience, in the 40's, found him touring with bands like Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory and Lionel Hampton. Mingus' career has spanned three-decades and he collaborated with other jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Herbie Hancock. Mingus' compositions retain the hot and soulful feel of hard bop, drawing heavily from black gospel music and blues, while sometimes containing elements of Third Stream, free jazz, and classical music.

A restless Dusty, freshly relocating to America from her native England, then departed the label and left an additional nine songs recorded with Barry in the can, where they stayed until Rhino issued one track, "Faithful" (in mono), as a bonus track on the 1990s CD release of Dusty's 1970 Atlantic album A Brand New Me. The other tracks didn't surface until a subsequent deluxe reissue of Dusty's landmark 1969 album Dusty in Memphis included them as bonus cuts.
Sonny Stitt – Blows The Blues [Reissue/1970] LP (Verve)
Sonny Stitt led several excellent record dates in 1959, especially at the end of the year when he produced three LPs for Verve over a span of three sessions with pianist Lou Levy, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Mel Lewis. Playing alto sax throughout this album, Stitt hardly sounds like a Charlie Parker clone, something that unfortunately was a frequent claim by tin-eared critics throughout a fair portion of his career. The music includes several potent originals, especially "Hymnal Blues" and the slow, powerful "Morning After Blues." Originally released in 1970.

Various Artists - Spiritual Jazz 16: Riverside Etc. 2LP (Jazzman Records)
Since 2008, Jazzman's Spiritual Jazz series has presented unlimited horizons. Each album celebrates the rich tradition of African-American songs based on the belief in a higher force than oneself and has also focused on geographical areas, such as Europe or Japan, thus recognizing that these territories have immense cultural riches. Spiritual Jazz 16 is a focus on Riverside and its associated sister labels. Riverside itself was founded in 1953 by Orrin Keepnews and Bill Grauer, and became an important purveyor in that decade and beyond of what would be marketed as modern jazz. That coinage was itself an amorphous, umbrella term that essentially created a demarcation from the vocabulary of pre-war classic jazz and inter-war big band swing, thus recognizing that improvising artists were breaking new creative ground that would subsequently give rise to a flurry of sub-genres, for example bebop, hard bop, cool, modal and Latin jazz. Featuring James Clay, Werner-Rosengren Swedish Jazz Quartet, Sal Nistico Quintet, Frank Strozier, Cannonball Adderley Sextet, Blue Mitchell, Sonny Red, Clifford Jordan, Lee Konitz Quintet, McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, and Alice Coltrane.
