Banks – Serpentina LP (Her Name Is Banks)

White color vinyl pressing. Serpentina is the fourth album from the platinum-certified artist. The musician enters previously uncharted territory in every sense-from sound to lyrics to visuals, and everything in-between.

James Bay – Leap LP (Mercury/Republic)

Three-time Grammy Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multiplatinum singer/songwriter, producer and guitarist James Bay releases his third full-length album. For Leap, Bay worked with some of the most sought-after producers and songwriters including Foy Vance, Dave Cobb, Ian Fitchuk, Joel Little, and FINNEAS.

Blind Channel – Lifestyles Of The Sick And Dangerous CD (Century Media)

Furiously fighting their way into the worldwide mainstream, the Finnish six-piece alt metal band has always embraced their influences, from nu-metal iconoclasts to pop and hip-hop behemoths. That's the key to their draw, they're only interested in sticking true to themselves while studiously searching for the keys to unlock the doors of success. Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous is a lashing, brutal, bravado and swagger filled, sincere depiction of their lives, backed by their trademark unforgiving "violent pop music". [A limited-edition white color vinyl pressing is available for special order.]

Nicholas Britell – The King [Original Score] 2xLP (Lakeshore)

Original Score by two-time Academy Award nominated and Emmy winning composer Nicholas Britell (The Big Short, Vice, The Underground Railroad).

Theo Croker – Love Quantum CD (Masterworks)

Theo Croker’s seventh album sees the Grammy Award-nominated trumpeter, composer, producer, and artist exploring the most powerful life force in the known universe: love. From life to death, human to cosmic, Croker has enlisted several instrumental and guest vocal collaborators on his quest to celebrate love in all its forms.

Delicate Steve – After Hours CD (ANTI-)

Written and recorded on a 1966 Fender Stratocaster that reignited his love for the instrument, Delicate Steve's captivating new album, After Hours, marks a first for Steve Marion, an earnest, easygoing collection that revels in the simple joys of plugging in and playing. The songs are sweet and breezy here, pairing vintage soul grooves with mesmerizing, wordless melodies, and Marion's production work is suitably subtle and restrained, stepping back in all the right places to let the album's masterful performances speak for themselves. After Hours is Marion's warmest, most magnetic work to date, an inviting, immediately accessible album that manages to balance thoughtful introspection and carefree bliss in equal measure. [Vinyl edition due July 29.]

The Deslondes – The Ways & Means CD/LP (New West)

The Deslondes is a five-piece band from New Orleans. The band splits up songwriting and lead vocal duties among its five members, continuing its democratic ethos and musical versatility. Multiple members have released solo recordings between their sophomore release, Hurry Home (2016) and their latest release Ways & Means but throughout the time between albums the Deslondes continued to build on their inventive take on New Orleans country and R&B. Ways & Means finds the band leaning on the country-folk of their debut along with the sometimes-psychedelic, electrified gospel-soul sound of Hurry Home. The sound will continue to draw comparisons to the country-funkiness of The Band, Link Wray, and others but Ways & Means is the sound of a band that understands the history of American music, while embracing their own contemporary approach. [Indie store exclusive “sun king’ color vinyl pressing is signed by the band.]

Flock – Flock LP (Strut)

Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Flock is a brand-new collaboration between five leading musicians from London's open-minded jazz and experimental scenes: Bex Burch (Vula Viel), Sarathy Korwar, Dan "Danalogue" Leavers (Soccer96, The Comet Is Coming), Al MacSween (Maisha) and Tamar Osborn (Collocutor).

Richie Furay – In The Country CD/LP (BMG)

In The Country is country-rock pioneer Richie Furay's ninth solo album, standing apart from his collaborations with groundbreaking groups Buffalo Springfield and Poco. It finds Furay interpreting country hits including Keith Urban‘s "Somebody Like You", Garth Brooks‘ "The River", Alabama‘s "I'm in a Hurry And I Don't Know Why", and Lee Ann Womack‘s "I Hope You Dance”, as well as crossover hits like John Denver‘s "Take Me Home, Country Roads", and Marc Cohn‘s "Walking in Memphis". In The Country features guest contributions from Vince Gill, John Berry, ex-Chicago singer/bassist Jason Scheff, and longtime Eagles bassist/former Poco member Timothy B. Schmit.

Mickey Guyton - Remember Her Name 2xLP (Capitol Nashville)

Finally! Previously released on CD & digital, now available on vinyl! Mickey co-penned 15 of the 16 songs on the album, her full-length debut after 10 years of being signed to Capitol Records. Remember Her Name follows the release of her critically acclaimed EP Bridges which included "Black Like Me" for which she went on to receive a historic GRAMMY nomination. Her performance on the prestigious GRAMMY show was the first by a Black female country artist and was touted by NPR as "the night's most affecting live performance.

Yves Jarvis – The Zug CD (ANTI-)

Called a "magical mood conductor" by The Fader, Yves Jarvis' music is critically acclaimed, with Under The Radar saying that he is "an enthralling and surprising listen...coming from the same Afro-futuristic camp as Thundercat and Kendrick Lamar" while Pitchfork added that he creates "fluid, soul-inflected folk – like if Toro y Moi produced early Iron And Wine." Like the many works under Jarvis' belt, The Zug is an entirely self-produced venture. From instrumentation to engineering to artwork, the autodidact has forged a bastion for vanguard exploration within which no holds are barred. With his youthful exuberance and swagger, the 25-year-old evokes a mid- ‘70s Bowie as he bellows operatically with palpable conviction and purpose. The Zug is at times a stadium spectacle, sometimes a whisper. [Vinyl was delayed and will arrive next week.]

Joys Union Group – Boredom Euphoria LP/Cassette (Trouble In Mind)

Joys Union Group is a new Texas group that aims to blur the lines between new age, jazz and "new weird America"-esque psychedelia. [Limited edition lemon yellow vinyl.]

Kimberly Kelly – I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen CD/LP (Show Dog Nashville)

Something's happening in country music. Newer artists and younger audiences are embracing instrumentation, vocal stylings and song structures long thought drowned in the ocean of slick, snap-track productions. Not easily dismissed as merely regional or a novelty throwback, the trend could be on it's way to full-blown movement. If so, Kimberly Kelly's I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen album may prove to be the clarion call.

The Mattoid - Great Lovers CD/LP (Cleft Music)

It’s been 10 years since Finnish troubadour, The Mattoid, returned to Scandinavia after a decade living as an “illegal alien” (stress the alien) in Music City. During his time in Nashville, he recorded 4 albums with Cleft and 1 of decidedly crooked covers for JEFF the Brotherhood imprint, Infinity Cat. ‘Great Lovers’ was recorded and mixed during Mattoid’s ten year exile between Nashville, Helsinki and London. It serves as the final piece in a set of albums constituting a subsequent, catalog spanning comp for release in later 2022, along with first time pressings of his previous two full length albums on vinyl!

Alice Merton – S.I.D.E.S. CD/LP (Mom + Pop Music)

Alice Merton's debut album Mint saw the Berlin-based musician achieve phenomenal success. Now, Alice is set for wider international recognition with the release of her eagerly anticipated sophomore album S.I.D.E.S., a bold evolution from the style Alice presented on her debut. Sonically, it's darker, drawing on angsty modern pop, alt-rock and other more abrasive sounds, while its themes are deeper and more introspective but with an undercurrent of hope. [Indie exclusive 180gm peach vinyl.]

Metric – Formentera CD (Metric Music International)

Even real places become imaginary when they are so far out of reach. Named for an idyllic island near Ibiza off the coast of Spain, Formentera is a place that, for Metric, only existed on a page in a "dream destinations" travel book that lay open on a desk in the new recording studio that guitarist Jimmy Shaw built in 2020, in a rural hamlet north of Toronto. This is the setting where the band's eighth album took shape. Metric's sound is both genre-defying and genre-defining here. Formentera is the follow-up to 2018's Art Of Doubt. [Vinyl edition – including a limited-edition indie store exclusive vinyl pressing - due September 30.]

NoSo – Stay Proud Of Me CD/LP (Partisan)

Stay Proud Of Me is the debut album from L.A.-based Korean-American artist NoSo (real name, Abby Hwong). Their stage name is shorthand for North/South: a nod to their Korean heritage, and the inane origin question ("which Korea are you from?") that so many Korean Americans inevitably face at some point in their lives. Across 10 tracks, NoSo indirectly grapples with the insecurities and frustrations that can arise from the Asian American experience, with the result feeling like a balm for the alienated. Stay Proud Of Me offers a deeply earnest coming-of-age story, a nuanced introduction to NoSo's universe and Hwong's rapidly expanding musical abilities. [Limited-edition opaque blue vinyl.]

Katy J. Pearson – Sound Of The Morning LP (Heavenly)

Written and recorded in late 2021 after a self-prescribed period of down time spent walking, going on daily cold-water swims and "just chillaxing massively," even the credits on Sound Of The Morning Katy J Pearson professes a new thirst for experimentation. It all makes for a record that's increasingly unafraid to explore life's darker parts, but that does so with an openness that's full of light.

Mike Phillips – Mike Phillips CD (Sono Recording Group)

Besides his critically acclaimed albums, you might know Mike Phillips from his work with Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson as a featured soloist. He is known for his stirring performance of the National Anthem at dozens of NFL and NBA games. His self-titled album is a highly personal exploration of his life as a saxophonist and jazz composer for over 20 years. It includes nine new compositions and a rendition of "Life Every Voice and Sing", also known as the Black National Anthem.

Renforshort – dear amelia CD (Interscope)

On dear amelia, Renforshort narrates an up-close and thrillingly honest journey through the darkest parts of her psyche. Her debut album spans twelve tracks and includes recent songs "moshpit" and "we'll make this ok" featuring Travis Barker. [Vinyl edition – including an indie store exclusive clear pressing – due September 30.]

rRoxymore - I Wanted More 12" (Aus Music)

Hermione Frank aka rRoxymore has spent the past decade cherry picking the labels she works with whilst building up a totally unique signature sound -- DBA, Timedance, and recently Ideophone. Hermione's Aus Music EP sounds soft and intricate yet punchy and powerful. Beautiful synth licks and crunchy drums melded together with plenty of UK attitude. A daydreamer's delight, it offers restrained weight and it's the perfect elixir for any morning dancefloor.

Skegss – Rehearsal LP (Loma Vista)

Limited edition vinyl LP pressing with alternate cover. "Skegss have cemented themselves as one of the most intoxicating acts to come out of Australia in years." - Rolling Stone. Skegss is an Australian three-piece power trio originally from Byron Bay. They combine surf, garage, and slacker elements to create their dynamic sound.

Sasha Alex Sloan – I Blame The World LP (RCA)

Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. I Blame The World is the sophomore album from acclaimed singer-songwriter Sasha Alex Sloan. The follow-up to her 2020 critically praised debut, Only Child, I Blame The World finds Sasha embracing the weary apathy of the world around her and ushering in a bold new era of musicality. Sasha describes the new album as an "honest, non-hopeful" collection of work, distinctly encapsulating the all-too-relatable emotions of despondency and isolation through unflinching and insightfully nuanced lyricism and a razor-sharp sensibility.

Midori Takada - Cutting Branches for a Temporary Shelter LP (WRWTFWW Records)

The first new solo album by renowned Japanese percussionist Midori Takada in 23 years. Recorded in a live setting and played with instruments conserved in the collections of the MEG Museum, Cutting Branches For A Temporary Shelter is Midori Takada's very own rendition of "Nhemamusasa", a traditional work emblematic of the musical repertoire for mbira of the Shona of Zimbabwe. The choice of this title by Midori Takada evokes the links between traditional African and contemporary music which are the foundation of this work, and it also translates the resolutely multicultural vision of the artist. Midori Takada explains: "African music is remarkable for its polyrhythms. Not only are there simultaneously several rhythmic motifs, sometimes as many as ten, but furthermore it may be that the part played by each musician has its own starting point and its own pace, all combining to form a cycle. All the cycles progress at the same time according to a single metrical structure which functions as a reference point, but which is not played by any one person from beginning to end. The structure emerges out of the multi-level parts, all different."

Attia Taylor – Space Ghost LP (Lame-O)

Pink color vinyl pressing. Attia Taylor is a NYC based musician, writer, and content producer. She is the founder of Womanly Magazine, The Dorothy, and a member of The Art Dept Collective. Her work is rooted in social justice, art, and design, to bring inclusive and culturally relevant content to sound, print and digital realms. She is passionate about building and cultivating communities through journalism, music, storytelling, and research. Space Ghost is her debut solo album, recorded with Jeff Ziegler (Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs) in Philadelphia.

Laura Veirs – Found Light CD/LP (Raven Marching Band)

Found Light may be Laura Veirs' 12th studio album, but it also, in many ways, feels like her debut. If 2020’s My Echo - written and mixed just prior to her 2019 split from her longtime husband, her longtime producer, and the father of her two sons - was her divorce album, Found Light is about what comes after. [Limited-edition color vinyl.]

Wormrot – Hiss CD (Earache)

Wormrot return with their fourth album and follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2016 album Voices. The Singaporean trio features the same line up as Voices with Arif (vocals) Rasyid (guitar) and Vijesh (drums) and is without doubt their most ambitious and creative work yet. Having already made their mark as one of grindcore's biggest names, Wormrot is intent on bringing genre back to the masses with a sonically stunning record of wildly unhinged and downright feral noise. [Vinyl edition due July 22.]

Bad Brains – Bad Brains – Punk Note Edition LP (Org Music)

Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as The Yellow Tape because of its yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the five-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band's first release of anything longer than a single. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains' recordings. This Punk Note edition comes with alternate packaging artwork from designer John Yates (Stealworks). The artwork is a nod to Reid Miles and Francis Wolff, and their amazing work at the Blue Note label.

Jorge Ben - Samba Esquema Novo LP (Sowing Records)

Jorge Ben's debut album, first released in 1963 on Phillips Records. Samba Esquema Novo ("New Style Samba") deliberately sets a new standard in Brazilian music. A beautiful, fresh and vital combination of Ben's percussive guitar and smooth/rough voice backed by big band style horns, percussion (the great Dom Um Romao), and strings. In 2007, it was listed by Rolling Stone Brazil as one of the 100 best Brazilian albums in history. But it's important to remind you that this is the album that contains the first original version of "Mas Que Nada", one of the most popular songs in the world. Clear vinyl.

Matt Berninger – Serpentine Prison [Reissue/2020] 2xLP (Concord)

Clear vinyl pressing. Includes six bonus tracks. Serpentine Prison is the first solo album from Matt Berninger of The National. Produced by the legendary Booker T. Jones, it's a collection of deeply personal songs dripped in Booker's signature Memphis sound and perfectly blended with Berninger's unmistakable baritone. Recorded over 14 days in Venice, CA.

Big Star – Complete Third [Reissue/2016] 3xCD (Omnivore)

Complete Third includes every demo, rough mix, outtake, alt take and final master from the Third sessions known to exist. While some demos and alternate versions of songs have dribbled out over the years on various compilations, all extant recordings made for the album are presented on Complete Third. The collection boasts 69 total tracks, 29 of which are previously unheard session recordings, demos and alternate mixes made by producer Jim Dickinson and engineer John Fry. The set allows the listener to track the creation of the album from the original demos, through sessions and rough mixes, to the final masters of each song.

Cake – Fashion Nugget [Reissue/1996] LP (Sony Legacy)

Limited 180gm vinyl pressing. Digitally remastered edition of Cake's second studio album, which includes hits "The Distance", "Frank Sinatra", and "I Will Survive".

Les Calamités - Encore! 1983-1987 LP (Born Bad Records)

Wouldn't it do them justice to rid Les Calamités (literally "the calamities") of the embarrassing phrase "girl band", durably stuck to their skins and plaited skirts? It's nothing but a pink puffy cloud obscuring their true importance as a "band" full stop, as well as their fleeting though mind-bending trajectory. Everything the Calamités touched, with their classy, rigorous, casual ways -- plus just enough amused detachment -- turned into gold. Small-scale, three-voice anthems sung with a style given both by arrogant innocence and cheeky ease. Without playing the cards naturally assigned to girls (sexy attitude, feminist clichés, dilettante groupism) they managed to combine a pop teen spirit with a shameless rock n' roll energy. The Calamités were however and at once, one step behind -- some kind of '50s-60s classicism -- and one ahead thanks to their writing talent and French lyrics.

Archie James Cavanaugh – Black And White Raven [Reissue/1980] LP (Numero)

A masterpiece of the schooner rock variety, Black And White Raven is an album that emerged from Archie James Cavanaugh's youthful dream of recording his own music while stuck in the Alaskan wilderness. With a freewheeling cast culled from Archie's travels around the Pacific Northwest, including Redbone's Tony Bellamy and Pete DePoe, Black and White Raven was set down as the '70s crested. Traces of disco, AM gold, gospel, and yacht mixed freely with his Tlingit heritage, creating a breezy and optimistic portrait of life in the 49th state.

D'Arcangelo - Arium 12" (A Colourful Storm)

D'Arcangelo is the duo of Marco and Fabrizio D'Arcangelo and Arium is their first release of sublime introspective electronics for A Colourful Storm. Throughout EPs and seminal albums for Rephlex, Nature, and Suction Records, D'Arcangelo forged a sleek and sensuous sound alongside their label mates Bochum Welt, Leo Anibaldi, and Lory D. Arium is their latest EP, containing new studio productions and a lost gem produced during the Shipwreck era (1999), hinting at the seminal Broken Toys' Corner (2002) and Eksel (2007) albums. Full-color sleeve with insert and liner notes by Marco D'Arcangelo.

Elton John – Regimental Sgt. Zippo CD/LP (Mercury)

Regimental Sgt. Zippo is the legendary “album that never was” for Elton John. Signed to DJM as an artist in early 1968, he cut 12 tracks at DJM Studios in London’s New Oxford Street for a debut album that was never released. As part of the excavation of material for Elton’s Jewel Box collection, the original running order was located. After the success of its limited release in mono for Record Store Day 2021, it is now available on CD and contains both stereo and mono mixes.

Elton John – The One [Reissue/1992] 2xLP (Mercury)

Elton John – Peachtree Road [Reissue/2004] 2xLP (Mercury)

The One was Elton John’s first studio album of the ‘90s (and 23rd overall) and features guest appearances from Kiki Dee, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour. Elton John’s 27th studio album, Peachtree Road, is the only album in his extensive and much-loved catalog to be produced solely by him. Taking in his love for R&B, country, and Americana, it is a rootsy album that continued the back-to-basics attitude of his preceding album, Songs From The West Coast.

Nelson – Greatest Hits (And Near Misses) CD (UMG)

Career-spanning compilation of Nelson's iconic tracks containing the Top 10 hits, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection", and "After The Rain", plus fan favorites, "What About Me", "Only Time Will Tell", and "Too Many Dreams". Pauline Oliveros - Accordion & Voice LP (Important Records)

Originally released in 1982. "Accordion & Voice was the first of my recordings as a soloist. I was living in an A-frame house in a meadow just below Mount Tremper at Zen Mountain Center. I had a wonderful view of the graceful saddle mountain top. When away on a performance trip I would imagine the mountain as I played 'Rattlesnake Mountain'. I followed the feelings and sensations of my many experiences of the mountain -- the changing colors of the season, the breezes and winds blowing through the grasses and trees. 'Horse Sings From Cloud' taught me to listen to the depth of a tone and to have patience. Rather than initiating musical impulses of motion, melody and harmony I wanted to hear the subtlety of a tone taking space and time to develop. The tones linger and resonate in the body, mind, instrument and performance space. My thanks to Important Records for bringing these pieces to be heard again." --Pauline Oliveros

Pauline Oliveros - The Wanderer LP (Important Records)

Originally released in 1984. An utterly essential document of early American minimalism from Pauline Oliveros. "The Wanderer" is based on a single modal scale (B C# D D# E F# G#) and rhythmic modes based on a meter consisting of ¾ and ⅜. Part I, "Song", is intended to explore the unique resonant qualities of accordion reeds through long sounds. Subtle variations come about from differences in tuning and air pressure. Part II, "Dance", demonstrates the sharp accenting power of the accordion bellows in a mixture of cross-rhythms characteristic of jigs, reels, batucadas, Bulgars, klezmer forms, Cajun dances, and music of other diverse cultures. The Wanderer was composed in November, 1982 especially for the Springfield Accordion Orchestra, directed by Sam Falcetti. This recording documents The Wanderer's world premiere, as it was performed January 27, 1983 at Marymount Manhattan Theatre.

Sting – The Bridge [Super Deluxe Edition] 2xCD (A&M)

This Super Deluxe double-CD features the FIP Session Live In Paris At The Pantheon.

Those Pretty Wrongs - Those Pretty Wrongs/Zed For Zulu 2xLP (Curation Records)

Those Pretty Wrongs are Jody Stephens and Luther Russell, two old friends and veterans of the music scene in different ways. Jody was the drummer for the legendary band Big Star and now helps run equally legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis. Luther Russell was the leader of seminal roots-rock band The Freewheelers and is now an acclaimed solo artist and producer. Those Pretty Wrongs (2016) & Zed For Zulu (2019) were both released to great critical success and the duo toured much of the US and EU delighting crowds with Those Pretty Wrongs music. There's an undeniable influence of Stephens' former band in the breezy melodies, the strong, simple and straightforward arrangements, beautifully built around the duo's harmonies.

The Who – Sell Out [Reissue/1969] 2xLP (Geffen)
The Who – Tommy [Reissue/1969] 2xLP (Geffen)

Abbey Road Studios Half-Speed Mastering.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Toast CD/2xLP (Reprise/WMX)

For the past two decades, Toast has been whispered about in collectors' circles in hushed tones, as Neil Young has dropped pieces of information about it here and there, especially as it contains three never-before-released songs. In 2021, in his online daily newspaper, The Times Contrarian, Young wrote about the album in-depth. "The music of Toast is about a relationship," he said. "There is a time in many relationships that go bad, a time long before the breakup, where it dawns on one of the people, maybe both, that it's over. This was that time." Many songs share a bluesy, jazz-tinged vibe as a common thread. Three solid rockers are interspersed in the mix. Other songs are long with extensive explorations between verses, a Crazy Horse trademark, kind of like a down-played Tonight's The Night, except these songs deal directly with love and loss, not drugs.
