Join us for an early morning, intimate instore performance by The Sam Grisman Project, led by David’s son, Sam. The band will play songs featured on the legendary kids’ album, which is seeing a vinyl release for the first time ever. For this special “JUICE:30”, we’ll be providing juice boxes and snacks for our young friends, a spin on our weekly Saturday hang (BEER:30). This is a free and all ages affair, so come one, come all! Awarded as a Notable Children's Recording by the American Library Association, the beloved release Not for Kids Only is a timeless collection of folky favorites and playful picks from Jerry Garcia & David Grisman aimed at both children and parents.

Many of the songs featured on the album were ones Garcia and Dawg first learned in the early '60s, drawn from the Old-Time Strong Band Songbook (formerly the New Lost City Ramblers Songbook), which they used to help recall some of the lyrics.

Originally released in 1993, this 2025 deluxe vinyl edition marks the album's first appearance on wax. This reissue expands on the original track list with bonus material on Side D, including alternate versions and previously unissued takes from the original sessions with Garcia and Dawg.

In an interview reflecting the albums spirit, Garcia shared:

"Kids like weird shit in there, they like crazy stuff lurking around, things with teeth, crazy people. They're realistic. They know the world is full of weird stuff, and kids sort of prefer weird stuff; they rejoice in it. It's no big thing, but it's nice to be able to throw some music back in there that's originally from that world; bring some of the weirdness back, take a chance a little. I mean it's sort of trusting the kids that they can handle something more than terminal niceness."

Orders placed for local, event pickup will be available starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22nd.

Event preorders for store pickup will be held for three months after the event date. Please pick up your copy of Not For Kids Only no later than February 22nd.
